On 6 June 2008, in Mhondoro, a quiet farming district in Mashonaland West, three white pick-up trucks carrying ZANU-PF militia rolled into the homestead of MDC organiser Patson Chipiro, less than a kilometre from the home of Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga.
The men came looking for Patson, but when they discovered he was away in Harare, they returned an hour later and took their revenge on his 45-year-old wife, a former nursery-school teacher, making her pay for a man they could not find.
The attackers beat her, hacked off her right hand and both her feet, dragged her into her house and hurled a petrol bomb inside, setting the building ablaze while she was still alive.
By the time Patson returned home, all three brick houses on the family property were burning.
His wife was dead.
At her funeral, relatives could not close the lid of her coffin because her charred arm, severed at the wrist, had become rigid. Villagers searching through the ashes found her missing hand and placed it beside her before she was buried.
ZANU-PF murdered Dadirai Chipiro.
The Chipiro family still awaits justice.
Another trip around the sun☺️
The Lord is so gracious!
Grateful for the lessons, the growth, and all the unforgettable moments!
Happy 43rd Birthday to myself🌸🌸🌸
🔸Sparing a thought for Zimbabweans in South Africa who are going through an additional round of suffering, having tried to escape the vagaries of being back home. It is not easy. Dai nyika yedu yangonaka. Mwari pindirai.🙏🏽
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
I regret that you are wrong. All that the introduction of amendments does is provide cover for Zanu PF. They may well strategically accept some of your peripheral amendments and keep the core - namely the extension of time in office and the end of a direct election of President - and then present that as consensus.
Whilst you are correct in bemoaning the state of the opposition that is no reason to allow the further desecration of our Constitution and what is left of our democratic order.
CAB3 is nothing; in fact, it is child’s play. The real danger is CAB4, CAB5 and 6; a calculated pathway to capture, entrenchment and the quiet birth of a new political dynasty. Never allow this carmel to put its head in through CAB3. They are testing the waters. Tinoparara.
Do you really think if Tagwirei takes over from an 86 year old Mnangagwa he will only do 14 years and thereafter gracefully retire to Shurugwi in his 60s? Kwanai mazvinzwa.
AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACT… Great point made here by MP Mureri. This is the fundamental flaw with CAB3, Incumbents seeking to extend their own term of office. A gross illegality and brazen unconstitutionality. A classic case of conflict of interest, and unjust enrichment that unjustly benefits those promoting it. Even if they illegally pass it by hook or crook and without a referendum, it will be rejected by Zimbabweans. It simply cannot stand.
🔹 ZANU-PF Paid $10,000 to Each MP on the Eve of the CAB3 Vote
While you were all sleeping, ZANU-PF paid its MPs US$10,000 each to entice them to vote for Constitutional Amendment Bill 3 (CAB3), in a vote likely to be held today.
The money was distributed through the office of the Chief Whip, Pupurai Togarepi.
ZANU-PF MPs were summoned back to Parliament yesterday evening to collect the money. ZANU-PF has been targeting eight MPs per province from its party.
As part of the incentive, President ED Mnangagwa has also pledged to give each MP three tonnes of rice to distribute within their constituencies.
The CCC MPs aligned with Sengezo Tshabangu were in distress yesterday afternoon, expressing their concerns through their Chief Whip, Charles Moyo. Meanwhile, some CCC MPs aligned with NC were the second group to be paid. ZANU-PF MPs rushed back to also secure their loot ahead of the polls.
So, the MPs are ready to sell their souls, their future, and the future of their children and country for US$10,000 and three tonnes of rice per constituency, which will only cover a paltry 3,000 families at 1 kg each! What nonsense is this?
OUR DEAR MPs, THIS IS THE DEVIL YOU ARE FACING. LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY: DO NOT GO TO PARLIAMENT ANYMORE WITH EFFECT FROM TODAY (THURSDAY, 11 JUNE 2026), AS THEY ARE GETTING READY TO TRAP YOU INTO VOTING FOR CAB3, THE CONSEQUENCES OF WHICH YOU ARE NOW WELL AWARE OF!
Akuruma nzeve ndewako!!!
Our case against #CAB3 has been given a solid, clear and thunderous base in the National Assembly through outstanding and heroic performances by MPs @agencygumbo; @gladyshlatywayo; @HMakumire; @chigumbu_ and @MushoriwaEdwin. They have set the stage for our victory. Well done!
Given that this Budiriro human being has become ZANU PF, why is she not being recalled from Parliament?
Can the CCC rotational president kindly untie the knot for us.
