The Remarkable Journey of Aldrine Kipchirchir Kibet: From Humble Beginnings to International Stardom

Aldrine Kipchirchir Kibet, a 17 year old attacking midfielder from Poror, Baringo County, has emerged as one of Kenya’s most promising football talents. His journey, marked by resilience and passion, started in Baringo and faced early challenges. Despite his skill, several high schools rejected him for being too small. However, St. Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale, under the leadership of principal V.O. Makanda, gave him a chance—and he thrived.

Kibet’s breakthrough came at the 2023 KSSSA National Championships in Kakamega, where he led St. Anthony’s to their sixth national title. He finished as the tournament's top scorer with five goals and was named MVP. His outstanding performance earned him the LG/SJAK August Sports Personality of the Month award.

Kibet’s talent soon caught the eye of scouts, and he joined Nastic Sports Academy in Spain. At the Valladolid International Cup, he delivered spectacular performances, scoring six goals, including a hat-trick against AC Milan, and winning the tournament’s MVP award. He also claimed the Golden Boot at the CECAFA U18 Championship and was recognized as the second-best Most Promising Sports Person at the 2023 SOYA Awards.

Kibet has been instrumental in Team Kenya’s qualification for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2025. He currently leads the CECAFA U20 Championship in both goals and assists, continuing his remarkable rise on the international stage.

First recognized in 2017 at the Victor Wanyama ROYA Tournament, where President William Ruto awarded him the Most Outstanding Player trophy, Kibet’s story reflects triumph over adversity. From being rejected for his size to shining internationally, his journey inspires young athletes across Kenya.

Make money, invest and retire back. Advisable for someone who is go-getter. Worth the sacrifice.

In Western Europe, the minimum wage is about 320k a month, I would advise him to go.

In Eastern Europe, the minimum wage is between 100k to 120k, cost of living in Eastern Europe is almost similar to that of Kenya, one thing that will make him hate Eastern Europe is language barrier. I would advise him to consider language barrier as the main hindrance. Eastern Europe can easily open him doors to western Europe.

Bottom line he will be better off within 5 years outside Kenya than he will be in 15 years of working in Kenya on a 70k PnP job.
