Imam al-Bukhari’s masterpiece al-Tarikh al-Kabir presents thousands of biographical entries of narrators arranged in alphabetical order.

However, there is an exception at the start: Imam al-Bukhari begins with narrators named Muhammad out of honor for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
