@vintagemapstore As a wildlife biologist in SC I can confirm SC has the American Red Squirrel in the NW corner of our state. We have a sliver of the Appalachians and that’s where they reside.
@DSeymoursLife Lob and white pine that was planted in the 70s was never meant to grow there. Let native pines and oak hickory forests regen. the avg age of the forest on the AP is 120 years old. So many species that need young forest are suffering. Just 5% young forest would be helpful

@babowling12 With all the trees on the ground, sunlight will hit the forest floor and wildflowers who haven’t been seen in decades will blanket the mountainsides.
@EFisherWX If there’s a bright side to the destruction, it may be that areas like these will become home to ruffed grouse and golden wing warblers that desperately needed early successional habitat in the mountains.
Take a behind the scenes look at the @ClemsonFB Military Appreciation Day flyover of 2 F-35A Lightning II jets from 62nd Fighter Squadron at @LukeAFB, AZ. Special thanks to pilots Lt Col Casey "Deuce" Manning (Clemson 2005) and Lt Col Jason "Chill" Wall!

@EFisherWX It’s hard to believe now but this will regenerate faster than you would believe. There will be wildflowers that pop up that haven’t been seen in decades.
