He hit the same body parts Balo did, but from an angle that makes Messi’s appear more intentional. That Messi lifted off his foot AFTER the foul doesn't exonerate him. Stop the cope!

Fouls happen in a 50/50, and if a player is a hair late and hits a leg, ankle, or foot by accident, a foul can be called. Balogun's was during a 50/50 aerial, and slow-mo looked bad. Unequal adjudication is the issue.

@HarisankarAG1 @LBart24 @TaylorTwellman You ignore context to minimize Messi. Messi's foul occurs in the same place: calf, then ankle, turning w/force. Messi is clearly in a more objectively “he should know better” position before the foul. This can't be argued. Far less true with Balogun.

@sc0rpp_ @TaylorTwellman So Messi missed the ball, full-sighted went cleats-to-calf, and after the foul, made a "don't card me” gesture, so nothing? Balogun couldn't know where he would land, so he should be given a red? One can reasonably imply recklessness to the 🐐, not Balogun.
