The education system clearly has a big part to play, but focusing on primary school children was insulting to vast numbers of older students who are struggling. I teach in FE where many 16+yrs have to resit English and Maths GCSE. Those lessons are 3 hours long!!

@channel4 The Great ADHD Myth? As many have pointed out this was such a biased representation of ADHD. Concentrating on a primary school boy plays into the old stereotypes of ADHD. There was no investigation into girls and young women or adults with ADHD.

Yes I was fidgety. I was so anxious. They also questioned my lack of emotion! I’ve spent the last 5 years getting a divorce. My ex did a custody application for our teenager children! And CAFASS & Soc Serv believed all the lies. I don’t trust anyone

Today I’ve had a review with my MH team to see if I can access further treatment. I had to explain myself in front 8 MH peeps. 3 I knew. It felt like an interview. Is this normal? 1 of the 2 psychiatrists quizzed me on my hot drink. Herbal fruit tea. Did it contain caffeine? No.

@ItsEmilyKaty Due to change in ADHD clinic psychiatrist had to sign contract saying wouldn’t OD to keep ADHD meds. Been waiting almost 2yr for MBT. Self Harm 1 week before MBT started. So no ADHD meds for 6 months!! If I’m stable! WTF My PD team didn’t realise they meant any meds.

@HoppyPelican Just a consultant psy covering their back ☹️ The previous psy wasn’t like this. Plus only the 2 ADHD consultants can prescribe the ADHD meds in the whole MHT - wtf! AND both also work for private psychiatry providing adult adhd assesments for NHS! Massive conflict of interest

@nhs @behmht i made sure I called the Crisis Line cos my crisis was after 5pm. They hung up. This isn’t help, it’s just ticking boxes

@BEHMHTNHS stopping a patient’s medication just before Christmas when members of their care team are unavailable is irresponsible. And claiming this was decided in an MDT consisting of a psychiatrist & 1 nurse from only 1 team is nonsense

I’m seriously thinking about discharging myself from my MHT. I’ve been on the waiting list for MBT for nearly 1.5years, and was told it would at least 6 months more. I know wait list for BPD therapy are long, but I feel like I’m in limbo, just waiting and getting worse ☹️

How long have others had to wait for MBT or any other BPD therapy? I feel that since I’m so much older than the other service users I’m not a priority ☹️

@JessLMatthews96 Thank you for sharing. So sorry you had this experience. I have had similar and am very conscious of being seen as ‘manipulative’
