A very interesting 'back-building' thunderstorm developed to the west of Jersey today, which essentially stayed offshore in exactly the same place for around 3 hours or so before dissipating. This was due to the reversal of wind direction between the cloud base and cloud tops.

Large crowds have turned out in central London at a vigil for the former Cambridge University professor Jason Arday - who was found dead last week.

Almost 100,000 people have now signed a petition drawn up by the Good Law project calling for an immediate public inquiry.

They claimed his death was the direct result of the sustained press harrassment which Mr Arday was subjected to - and said racism lay at the heart of the story.
