The only question that needs answering here is why in the world are you making an interchange with the siren literally about to blow? Seriously it makes absolutely zero sense making the change at that point of any game
The AFL is aware that its interchange steward missed a rotation in this game - which led to its count for Hawthorn reading 75, when it should have read 76.
The league now knows that when Jack Gunston walked onto the field - which it officially acknowledged as the Hawks’ 75th rotation on the night… was actually Hawthorn’s 76th.
Hawthorn believed it still had one more interchange to use.
The AFL miscounted Hawthorn’s rotations in the first quarter at the 20 minute mark.
Four players came off. The league counted three.
The league refused to speak to Channel 7 after it was flagged on the Agenda Setters last night.
Instead, opting to release quotes from an interview with its own media platform - AFL Media.

@RICKMORRIS3@XanderMcGuire7 It’s a non story as far as the match goes the result is the result, but the incompetence from the AFL in some absolutely basic areas such as keeping track of rotations and time keeping is truely astonishing, no wonder they can’t get umpiring right
"If we lose test cricket, we will lose the cricket we truly know. History remembers legendary test careers not franchise triumphs. Cricket without Tests has no real meaning. Winning a T20 World Cup may put you at the centre of world cricket today, but whether that is truly good for the game remains open to debate.
Test cricket earned its name because it challenges every quality a player possesses, technique, patience, temperament, endurance and character. It is not simply about clearing the ropes for entertainment; It is about battling through pressure, adapting to conditions, and surviving the physical and mental demands of five intense days"

@RICKMORRIS3@Crooksy18 Umpires aren’t getting much right at the moment that included, not a fan of last touch but it was just about in the last few years, at least it’s not all theatre like it had become. Commentators the biggest loser from it, they can’t make a song and dance about it anymore
@RICKMORRIS3@Crooksy18 I’ll be honest if I’m not at the pies game or don’t have a bet on I don’t watch tv games too often, find it nauseating listening to modern commentary. And the endless changes to make scoring higher has become a bore it resembles basketball more than footy
@Crooksy18@RICKMORRIS3 afternoon, twilight or night doesn’t matter Saturday is the only winner. Thursday and late Sunday straight in the bin. Friday a pain in the arse but manageable
If you blew up the AFL and started again where would you end up? Holding the ball, Grand Final venue, free agency, the ARC, academies, game length, the stand rule, state of origin, season length.... And yes, it is the Vic clubs who have won out from father-sons more than anyone else
@RICKMORRIS3 I’m no fan of the gold number, think there’s better ways to acknowledge on the jumper. One jumper a qtr is fair enough anything over that is ridiculous, obviously blood rule changes are a different thing all together
@glenn_marnell Ironically for 3 years we’ve heard the games to long, the odd occasion there’s a draw we need more time.
Facts are neither team deserved a win they kicked poorly and we let them off the hook draw is fair
"Probably the highest rating 10 minutes would happen right now. Instead we all go home"
- Gerard Whateley - says there should be extra time, just like we have in the finals

@RICKMORRIS3 I’d like a ban on players and coach’s interviews in the qtr breaks first then we can move to post game. And a ban on media stopping players outside the club or when leaving from getting scans etc. scheduled interviews only. Keep them away from media parasites as much as possible
What I particularly like about the AFL leaders is the rule changes that require further rule changes to make them work which in turn will require a further rule change to mitigate the original rule change which required a rule change
