Hi @laurawhitehorn - I was watching a documentary on your case and there was a part where you spoke about the prohibition on independent prisoners' organizations beginning in the 90s. Do you remember the exact policy change that led to this?

@natlawyerchic have you heard the latest news about the Rise of the Moors? They filed a lawsuit against the State Police, judge, and various media outlets. https://t.co/MfBtRm3sT5
@IMIXWHATILIKE yo, have you been following what's going on in Massachusetts? 11 armed members of a Moorish Science group were arrested while traveling from Rhode Island to Maine after a standoff w/ MA police.
@IMIXWHATILIKE They had been reporting it themselves live. The interaction started around 2am last night.

@IMIXWHATILIKE The group says they're not sovereign citizens, but they very much seem to draw on the language and pseudo-legal arguments used by the sovereign citizen movement.
@IMIXWHATILIKE They flew the Moroccan flag during the supposed standoff. The main dude who was livestreaming from the scene used to be a US Marine. Check out how local mainstream media is reporting on it all:

@IMIXWHATILIKE The people involved are part of a group called Rise of the Moors, which apparently is based in Pawtucket, RI. You can check out their website here to see what they're about: https://t.co/lc416TzzR1
New video about Martin Sostre and the Nation of Islam's efforts to organize against solitary confinement in #Attica during the 60s. Clips are sourced from @garrett_felber's presentations about his book, Those Who Know Don't Say. #BlackAugust

@CharlotteAbotsi In 2016-17 I was studying how the PPD was formed in the context of the Hardscrabble and Snowtown riots and how lynch law is just embedded into the institution of policing, thereby making the institution impervious to reform. I gotta dust off those notes to put something together.
@BootsRiley @TristanSeyek Tension is not bad, but it was pretty evident that she felt like she had to hold her tongue for the sake of time and so as to not escalate the existing tensions.
@BootsRiley@noname more points within the allotted general program time. I struggle with long-windedness too, and the things I point out above are what I know I have to work on as well. /end
@BootsRiley@noname better link up with the ongoing struggles on the part of Black femmes and trans women for survival, self-defense, and self-determination. That's basically what I interpreted she was asking for. It would've saved time and it would've allowed for y'all to get to dive deeper into /6
@NYGovCuomo Please grant parole to Jalil Muntaqim and accept his request to have his sentence commuted. He deserves to be with his family, friends, and community.
@WeddingtonSoc This is partly the basis of the documentary Bastards of the Party as well as a speech by Tupac delivered at a Malcolm X Grassroots Movement conference:
