This horse has an urgent medical appointment that it needs to attend Monday at 8:00am. The law requires that it be transported with its passport. I cannot wait for delivery on Monday.
I’m now told my “escalation” will be dealt with during business hours, Mon-Fri.
@RoyalMail explain to me how you can lose my horses’ passport because you didn’t submit the electronic customs declaration (despite the customs form being completed by me) and now, with a new passport urgently shipped to me with guaranteed 1:00pm delivery, it’s not here.
Went to the races (for the first time - I was curious) yesterday and sent all of my horse friends a photo of the track with “Horse shopping” as the caption.
Every single one of them responded with “YOU ARE NOT” or “NO.”
So I think it’s safe to say that they think 4 is enough.
@TheLife_OfABrit I think it’s TJ Maxx in the US (Winners in Canada). It takes some searching but you can find some really nice work clothes for cheap. That’s how I built my work clothes closet initially. Banana Republic often has a 40-60% off sale each season too.
Buying a saddle for my 21 year old: “I just need something cheap that fits him well. Idk how long he’ll be ridden so I don’t want to spend much.*
I also wanted a wool flocked saddle.
My 21 year old: *Doesn’t fit anything except for a used Antares.*
@goldbcklechaser We used to split is pretty much the same way (I covered all horse expenses) but I recently joined him at his company so it was just natural to combine our finances at that point. I think he was blissfully ignorant until that (and I got hit with some large vet bills).
How does everyone handle horse expenses with your significant others?
I used to solely cover the horse expenses until we started sharing our finances, now of course they're part of the overall budget.
The cost can cause some tension though...
@erinnpostt I 100% support transparency but I think he was blissfully ignorant to their true expense until we started sharing everything haha, now it’s a bit of a shock
So a glitch removed my pre-authorized debit settings from my car loan account and two corporate teams + my branch have confirmed this.
But my bank is requiring a specialized team to investigate before they’ll file a reversal with the credit bureau (they filed late payments).
@bridlesnbits For sure! My Paint was patiently tolerating me but my TB was loudly expressing his unhappiness with it. I initially thought it was an issue of confidence but as soon as I got stronger, I realized it was an issue of fitness (he’s now borderline lazy).
@Black_Buckskin That’s insane that they won’t refund it! Are they going to not take the next one or are they basically like “Thanks for the extra payment?” 🤦♀️
@Boundy_Hunter I'll have to check out Bridle Path! I got a cheap, random brand name blanket from them years ago and I swear that thing was indestructible so idk why I didn't think of them.
Question: I have an insane blanket destroyer (5yo WB gelding who likes to play).
He shreds blankets for a living and always ends up in my other gelding’s because he destroys his own.
Is investing in Rambo/Rhino products worth it? Or am I just throwing money in the shredder?
@bridlesnbits I actually recently tweeted about my own experience with this - I have a sensitive TB who I was struggling to ride until I got back into Yoga + Pilates. Suddenly, my strength meant I was a quieter rider and he became quieter too. It was a simple change that I underestimated.
@BrokeEventer I had the exhaustion for about a month after I had it at the start of May (I had quite bad symptoms, triple vaxxed). I ended up having to push myself to get out of bed and go to yoga classes to really overcome it. It was hard but I'm back to normal now (I know it varies though).
