@kimhonan Varroa has been in Europe for years. It’s prevalent in intensive honey farming activities where bees are kept in non natural hives & their food stores (honey) removed regularly. Bees evolved in trees in cold climates
Keep bees in a more natural env & they can selfmanage varroa
@WoodlandTrust Agree. Tilia Cordata and tilia tomentosa are two of the bees trees for bees this time of year. One fully grown tree produces more pollen and nectar than a meadow of wildflowers.
Given this is the boss of @BeeEquipmentLtd I won't be buying products from them any more. I only want to buy from businesses that are sustainable and working in the interests of bees and beekeepers.
Hi @SkyRussHope1, you've been sold a pup.
This beekeepers practises are poor and put ££ before British bees. Importing diseases and warm climate bees to cold and wet Britain to breed with British bees only weakens British bees stocks

Acacia baileyana is flowering this time of year. Quite a short lived tree and not easy to find, but on a sunny day in Feb gets lots of attention from the bees. #SunshineAmongstGrey
@worldbeeproject Lets hope they don't. We can do without lazy beekeepers importing bees from warm countries that dies in their first UK winter. Breed local bees for local conditions. This fellow needs to stop thinking about his wallet and care more about the bees
He should be raising local bees like the rest of us that can survive British conditions, not importing millions of bees that can't take the climate and die, only to buy in more next year.
Sustainable British beekeeping doesn't require imports.
Natural food sources are starting to dwindle. Every year at around this time the unused hives in the shed get looted by the local gang. I tracked this lot back to hive 7. #beekeeping
Found a robins nest by accident today. On an old keg under some beekeeping equipment. Guess I won’t be using that equipment for a month or so. #robin#beekeeping#birdwatching
One of the reasons the BBKA doesn’t represent me are confirmed by recent statements like “Bees are livestock”. Bee farmers have livestock.
I’m providing an environment for nature to thrive.
