I saw a thing on youtube last night on Edward Hopper, and I thought about what he would have painted if he were alive now. With a little help from #dalle and a smidge of photoshop...
@m_j_chalmers@TheLeanAcademic You can combine the source image with a piece of text, in this case it was something like “robot unicorn in the style of Simon stalenhag” (can’t remember exactly what I had)
Just got #stablediffusion running locally, and it's awesome! To kick things off, I've interpolated between a utopian future and a dystopian future. First image is 75% utopian, second is 25% utopian 🤖
The Apple design guidelines actually suggest not doing the rounded corners yourself, as OSX will do it for you. Makes this much easier! A nice reminder that things like #dalle will likely be used to improve existing workflows, not replace them 💪
Having a go at making an app icon using #dalle2. After a bit of faff, I did manage to get some quite nice ones. Occasionally, you get a perfect OSX style one like this, but mostly you get bad clip-art, even with a lot of prompts. Early days, but v exciting!
I think the tool that I'd love to see in this workflow is using natural language to describe a vector in dall-e's latent space: "Keep the shape of the hourglass, but make the background red".
@Mr_Peeks Yeah right! Though maybe I'm thinking too short term, a dall-e 4 might take "a cyberpunk platformer where you time travel on each jump" and give you an entire game :P
I was blown away by the fact that a single person could build a game as good as Stardew Valley, but we can't be far away from a time when a single game designer could build something awesome with AI generated art, animation, music and even dialog.
