Aujourd’hui, faire souffrir des animaux mérite de très lourdes peines. Sinon, il faut au minimum une condamnation exemplaire, avec une vraie sanction publique et sévère.

À Locqueltas, un chien a trouvé la mort après avoir été traîné sur le bitume, attaché à l'arrière d’une voiture roulant à vive allure. Alertée par des témoins horrifiés, la gendarmerie a ouvert une enquête pour actes de barbarie.

Estimer que l’Europe contribue à prolonger la guerre en refusant d’envisager certaines concessions ? Propagande. Donner la version russe d’une négociation, même pour l’analyser ? Propagande. Il y a quelques jours, 25 députés européens de Renew Europe ont demandé que je sois personnellement placée sous sanctions. Car je porte la voix de ceux qui pensent que cette guerre en Ukraine aurait pu être évitée, et qu’un accord de paix avec la Russie vaut mieux qu’une guerre ouverte avec elle. Dire cela est déjà considéré comme inacceptable. Le dire lorsque l’on est russe le devient davantage encore. Aujourd’hui, ce sont les voix dites « pro-russes ». Demain, lesquelles ?

‘JUSTICE FOR WANGWANG’: Mother Dog Burned Alive and Puppies Stabbed to Death as Global Outcry Demands New Laws in China

Jeyang, Guangdong, China - A gentle mother dog known to villagers as Wangwang and her three newborn puppies have become the face of a global movement for justice after a horrific act of what you could call "coordinated cruelty." On June 28th, investigators say four minors surrounded the family, and what allegedly happened next is a story of unimaginable depravity.

THE HORROR:
Armed with wooden poles, the suspects reportedly beat and stabbed the three puppies - barely two weeks old - until they were dead. As Wangwang tried to protect her babies, investigators say the boys poured gasoline over her and set her on fire. She screamed as she burned alive, while the suspects allegedly took video so they could boast about it online.

THE SYSTEMIC FAILURE:
Because the suspects are under the age of 14, they have reportedly been sent to a correctional school with no criminal prosecution. This highlights a devastating reality: China currently has no national animal cruelty law. Despite years of public outcry, companion animals have no legal protection at the national level.

THE GLOBAL RESPONSE:
From Shenzhen to Hong Kong, the public is refusing to let this go. Anti-abuse messages are appearing on public screens, and the world is now watching to see if China will finally enact the legislation needed to protect the vulnerable.

CALL TO ACTION:
We cannot let Wangwang and her puppies be just another headline. We must demand that the Chinese government enact national animal cruelty legislation now.
