🚨Breaking: A small Kentucky town is voting tonight to double its size so a data center can bypass county zoning laws.
The City of Burgin is set to annex land nearly equal to its current size—and won’t allow public comment.
Mercer County already refused to rezone this land for developer American Farm Investors. So instead of respecting that decision, the developer turned to Burgin—a city so small it has no zoning laws—to push the project through.
First reading is tonight, with no public input allowed. Social media comments are also shut down. Coincidentally, the mayor is also stepping down.
All of it points to one thing: this city council is preparing to force a massive data center onto a rural community that doesn’t want it—by literally doubling the town’s size overnight to make it happen.
