@kristenmdoyle@drjervin I love this way of building a PLN! Opening our minds to the exchange of ideas is a very effective to way to increase and aid student learning in the classroom!
@drjervin#EDSE3000 A5 I will build my PLN by following blogs, Twitter profiles, websites, Pinterests, etc. that feature teachers and strategies that exemplify what I want for my teaching voice. Collaborating with other teachers helps to show what works best for student learning!
@SParschauer@drjervin@SirKenRobinson What a good reminder! Remembering that each student is different is so important because it helps us to build relationships with them as people rather than simply students, allowing us to encourage them.
@drjervin@SirKenRobinson A4: As an English teacher, I will encourage students to ask questions about the literature we read in order to encourage curiosity. I will also allow freedom in learning and #studentchoice in choosing topics to discuss in order to cater to their interests and curiosity #EDSE3000
@JoslynLaflamme@drjervin Love this idea! A podcast provides a new way for students to present something they've been working on. A great way to implement tech in a personalized way!
@drjervin A3: In an ELA classroom, #integratedlearning can take place through synthesis. After a book unit, students could choose a theme from the book and research, synthesize, and present on how it has prevailed in present culture. This is learner-driven and personalized. #EDSE3000
@kristenmdoyle@drjervin This is a great article @ncte! Grammar within context will show the students why it is important to learn for #21stCenturySkills like communication and collaboration.
@drjervin#EDSE3000 A2 https://t.co/LbQYc20Ic7 The English Journal from @ncte provided this great article about expanding the global mindset in students through book choices. This is a great avenue for achieving #21stCenturyLearning by applying learning to new contexts
@TawneyKeilah @drjervin This is a great idea! Having students create their own projects while you facilitate allows them to use creativity and pushes them to think through the reasoning of their solutions, rather than just memorization or following a prompt!
@drjervin As a #21stCentury teacher, I will pose questions regarding content that will allow them to think and come up with their own solutions and interpretations. I will also have students explain the reasoning behind grammatical rules rather than simply memorizing them. #EDSE3000
@drjervin@TED_ED A5: This @TED_ED lesson teaches students why it is so important to understand literature on a deeper meaning. This is important because students will be able to see that #literature means something to them and their lives https://t.co/H3wcf9rxjM #EDUC2100
@JoslynLaflamme@drjervin Encouraging students in what they know is so important. It shows that their teacher has high expectations for them and truly believes in them.
@drjervin A4: I would choose "Learning happens anywhere." This shows students that what they are learning in the classroom can be relevant and useful to their lives. It give them a new purpose for learning and new outlook on content. #EDUC2100#studentcentered
@liana_english @drjervin I agree! Technology has certainly changed needs, so we need to adapt to those new needs and be sure that we are giving students what they need to learn.
@drjervin A3: As a future educator, teaching in the #21stCentury means reworking curriculum and content to focus on teaching students critical thinking skills rather than memorization. Teaching them to utilize a multitude of resources in order to think for themselves is important #EDUC2100
@captanchemistry@drjervin This is a great way to integrate learning! Teaching students to work with others along with their subject content is a great way to ensure practicing both life skills and science skills.
@drjervin A2: I can make learning integrated by teaching my students that the subjects they learn in school are not all separate, but rather all are part of the human condition. I can do this by giving them assignments that strengthen their critical thinking skills #EDUC2100
@drjervin A1: My licensure area is AYA Language Arts. URL is https://t.co/iY5iZp8X5a . My favorite internet resource is Purdue OWL because it is a quick and easy way to find answers about MLA format for writing papers. #EDUC2100
