Landon Koenig spent his late-teen years in Portland.

Not the one in Oregon or in Maine, but the one in North Dakota with a population of 578.

He got better at pitching by watching Jacob deGrom videos on YouTube and figuring out what worked in games.

He’s now a Mets draft pick.

Wow. The Mets drafted Mayville, N.D., native Landon Koenig in the eighth round of the MLB draft.

Koenig went from Mayville — with a population under 2,000 in cold weather — to NDSU, to the College World Series with Ole Miss.

Now he's a Met.
