Lately I'm reminded how important it is to have passion for things outside of the markets.
Before I became a full-time trader, I had a different passion.
I started playing paintball when I was 13 years old... I took a long break when I went to college.. and fell back into it when I came home.. this was around the same time I learned about trading from my closest friend.
My dream was to make money trading, and travel the country playing the national tournament circuit. Well, I didn't make money trading at the time, but I still got to compete. A lot of my disposable income was going into the sport, and I had only wished that trading income could help me pursue it further.
These are some of my fondest memories EVER.
Training, traveling, and competing with some of my closest friends.
We sacrificed hanging out on the weekends, family events, you name it... to be at the field every weekend grinding it out.
The hard work eventually paid off. We won a title in Nashville in the divisional ranks... and the feeling was indescribable.
A group of guys who had known each other since the teenage years, winning a title on the biggest stage. I honestly think this was the reason I kept enduring in the markets... it wasn't truly because of a passion for markets, but the freedom it could provide. These people still remain some of the closet friends I have in life.. and I'll remember every moment of it.
I'm excited to pick a gun back up this weekend and get back to the fields.
I miss the comradery, the grind to get better as a team, and the memories made along the way.
I'll be sharing more about this special hobby of mine.. and show you guys a side of my life that many of you don't know about.
Just remember next time you're in front of the charts and struggling, there's much more to life than sitting at the desk.
@FairValueGod It's both science and art, but the science part comes first. Then Art Flowers out from science, it can't be the other way around.
People see just the "Art" Elsewhere and they think they can replicate it too.
