Bob Blackman MP, along with several other British MPs, has come out in support of the communist Islamist cult of MEK while attacking the Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi’s push for democracy in Iran. It is time to tell the truth:

• Blackman claims to support democracy while backing the MEK, a Marxist Jihadi group led by self-appointed dictator Maryam Rajavi.

• Blackman questions Pahlavi’s mandate, yet during Iran’s January uprising, tens of millions of Iranians called for the return of Pahlavi across the country. There was no comparable nationwide support for the MEK.

• He also falsely claims Pahlavi established “back channels” with the IRGC. In reality, he called on members of the military and state institutions to defect and stand with the Iranian people, not negotiate with the regime.

• The Tory MP ignores the MEK’s own record: fighting alongside Saddam Hussein against Iran during the Iran-Iraq War, years on terrorist lists, and longstanding record of cult-like practices, abuse, and forced family separation.

• The MEK has spent millions on lobbying, speaking fees and influence campaigns to cultivate support among Western politicians and public figures.

• It attacks Pahlavi’s democratic legitimacy while promoting an organisation that has never received a democratic mandate from the Iranian people.

The future of Iran should be decided by the Iranian people through a free referendum, not by Western politicians promoting one unelected opposition faction while attempting to discredit another.
