@NBCNews Here is a photo of the west tip of Horn Island on a typical busy weekend. The Fourth of July weekend would have looked very similar, though perhaps slightly more crowded. This is where Nolan Wells and all of his friends were hanging out.👇👇👇👇
🚨CULTURE ROT🚨
Black history has officially been made in Mississippi.
The very first person charged under the state’s new juvenile gun law — which took effect July 1 — is 16-year-old Ethan Hines.
He’s been charged as an adult for his role in an alleged drive-by shooting in Lowndes County.
According to reports, Hines was the driver, not even the shooter.
Thanks to the new law, he now faces up to 30 years in prison. No more youth court slaps on the wrist for minors involved in gun crimes.
The media loves celebrating every “first” when it’s a positive Black accomplishment, no matter how many times it’s happened before. So for the sake of consistency, let’s acknowledge this one too.
Actions have consequences — and this new law is finally making that clear.
