I don't wish to sound too hyperbolic or reactionary but Stephen Fry et al's intervention on Tube 5G seems to capture something about British NIMBYism / degrowth.
No parent wants their kids to be spending all their time on smartphones, but restricting 5G on the Tube is one of the dumbest ways of achieving that.
Mobile Internet coverage is a basic provision for an advanced economy, London is already behind and @SadiqKhan is right to pursue it.
We should celebrate building things! (And parents can always just not give their children smartphones)
Significant update from the CMA regarding Vodafone/Three in the UK. I suspect we’re seeing it in recognition of the significant commitments they’ve managed to get from the merging parties to address their earlier concerns. The merger now edges closer to completion in December.
