Wiz, a New York-based cybersecurity firm, has found a major security flaw at DeepSeek, a Chinese AI startup. The flaw exposed sensitive data, including over a million log entries, software keys, backend details, and user chat history.

Wiz reported that DeepSeek left an unsecured ClickHouse database online, allowing easy access to this data.

The lack of authentication controls meant anyone could access the database, leading to the extraction of plaintext passwords and full control over DeepSeek’s systems. After Wiz alerted DeepSeek, the company quickly secured the database.

This breach has triggered investigations by global regulators. The U.S. National Security Council is examining its impact, while Italian and Irish authorities are looking into DeepSeek’s data handling practices.
