For clarity, this doesn't mean the Fur app is shelved. A lot of progress was made with this project as a universal app for iOS, Android, and Web. It's work is just paused at this time while this new app is being worked with a release hopefully in time for an upcoming convention.
Been quiet for some time. My apologies.
After some development resets and re-prioritizing, there's a new app in progress that should hopefully make finding and hanging with friends at conventions far easier/better.
More details should hopefully drop "soon" (come on app stores!)
Updated our website to be more than just a logo! Spotlights our new app, BitDrop which is a file hosting/sharing service with a free 15 GB tier!

File size and quality has no hard limit, just the (time) length. All videos will be encoded to supported formats and bitrate qualities, up to 1080p!
If there's issues with our planned video provider after release, we may have to adjust these limits as we rework the service.
Auto playing videos (via setting), muted until interacted with, and a custom video player! The final length limit isn't fully decided, but there will be ways to increase it as well.
This has been reworked to be easier while still flexible. Clicking the icon will bookmark it or unbookmark it. On bookmark, the temporary success message asks if you want to add it to collections.
Message disappear too fast? You can sort it any time in the post's "more" menu.
Bookmark "Collections" are a folder-like feature you can use to sort your bookmarked posts into. Unlike regular folders, you can add a bookmark into multiple folders, or none at all.
This is optional and you can see all your bookmarks via "All Bookmarks" default collection.
Instead of having to mark an entire post a rating, you can mark your individual attached media their own ratings! They'll be hidden (not even loaded) until you show, and you can hide them again if needed.
Preferences will allow you to customize the default viewing experiences.

One of the bigger features: multiple "users" (think profiles) per account! That is, when you sign up, an initial user will be created that you can post with. You can then create more users under that same account to switch between and post as. No additional logins!
While the blocks never fully stops from viewing public posts, I figure it's worth mentioning that https://t.co/dp1HxyBLgC will retain the expected block functionality, have private/protected accounts, AND has the ability to set the visibility per post (not just reply access).
For a bit of a better update, take a look at this thread view test! Still working out the bugs and design polish before it's good enough, but replies are working and threaded convos is mostly working as of now.
(ignore the misspelt "howbyte"!)
Still powering through as the remaining stuff is tied together before a public beta release!
Total lines of code are currently...

fur-web (web app): 25,846

Hello there. Another preview, of the polls! Currently there's a max of 4 options per poll, with a confirm button added for multiple choice polls (and added benefit of confirming single votes!)
Silence =/= stagnation.
We're making steady progress and the app is shaping up even better than hoped! After some tough UI and API challenges, we're nearing the final stretch towards our BETA release!
