@aishacs We LOVED Amal Unbound. We wish we could have "seen" Amal's reunion with her family though and we are curious why you chose not to include that scene. #GRAAmal
My class loved Amal Unbound. @aishacs thank you for writing this beautiful book to help my students learn about empathy, encourage them to do what is right even when itβs hard, and to introduce them to a beautiful culture. It has been a meaningful journey. #graamal

@psamel We think it's good that people don't know it was Amal that told someone because it could put her and her family in danger if people knew. And Nasreen Baji would never forgive her. #GRAAmalSlowChat#GRAAmal
@JMSosnowski Huck is remembering someone saying "nothing is free with the Khan family" so we're wondering if the literacy center is really free. #GRAAmalSlowChat#GRAAmal
@JMSosnowski Noah thinks maybe other people will start going to the center if they know Amal is going. Then, if it helps Jawad's family then maybe he will forgive some of the debt. #GRAAmal#GRAAmalSlowChat
@JMSosnowski We think Amal will be happy to get to learn again, but she won't like it as much because her friends and old teacher won't be there. #GRAAmal#GRAAmalSlowChat
@JMSosnowski Q1 Hafsa probably doesn't want to rub in the fact that she has a better life but she also probably feels bad asking Amal about her life, so she doesn't know what to talk about. #GRAAmal#GRAAmalSlowChat
@JMSosnowski Q1: Evie thinks maybe she doesn't want to tell Amal she has a new best friend. Georgie says Hafsa might just not know what to say. Maybe Hafsa felt bad about saying Amal's father had got the money when he really hadn't. #GRAAmalSlowChat#GRAamal
@tracy_nyman Q4: fighting with our siblings, chores, homework, friendship problems, loud noises from the highway...we should be more grateful #GRAAmalSlowChat
@tracy_nyman Some of us really connect with Amal, but we talked about how books are everywhere around us and everyone gets to go to school, so we kinda take it for granted and don't appreciate it as much as her. #GRAAmalSlowChat#GRAAmal
@tracy_nyman We were shocked by the police officer threatening her with more bruises. Police should be protecting people, not hurting them.
We are wondering what the police officers wanted to look for. We are also curious how Jawad will treat Amal now.
#GRAAmal#GRAAmalSlowChat
@tracy_nyman We were AMAZED at Amal's bravery talking to the police officers! Even though her bravery keeps getting her in trouble, it doesn't stop her!
Kat thinks maybe she is just learning when to stand up for herself.

@tracy_nyman Q2
We think it was suspicious that Nabila seemed to change overnight for no apparent reason, especially after Nabila got in trouble for burning the ironing.
We don't understand why the guard just opened the gate for her if she wasn't supposed to leave though.
@tracy_nyman Ch 26, Q1
We think Amal stopped Jawad from hitting Nabila because she didn't realize Nabila had set her up at first. When she tried to stop Jawad she still thought Nabila was her friend.
Nabila fooled us too!!! We thought she had changed! #GRAAmalSlowChat
