My class loved Amal Unbound. @aishacs thank you for writing this beautiful book to help my students learn about empathy, encourage them to do what is right even when it’s hard, and to introduce them to a beautiful culture. It has been a meaningful journey. #graamal

@tracy_nyman Some of us really connect with Amal, but we talked about how books are everywhere around us and everyone gets to go to school, so we kinda take it for granted and don't appreciate it as much as her. #GRAAmalSlowChat #GRAAmal

@tracy_nyman We were shocked by the police officer threatening her with more bruises. Police should be protecting people, not hurting them.

We are wondering what the police officers wanted to look for. We are also curious how Jawad will treat Amal now.

@tracy_nyman We were AMAZED at Amal's bravery talking to the police officers! Even though her bravery keeps getting her in trouble, it doesn't stop her!

Kat thinks maybe she is just learning when to stand up for herself.

We think it was suspicious that Nabila seemed to change overnight for no apparent reason, especially after Nabila got in trouble for burning the ironing.

We don't understand why the guard just opened the gate for her if she wasn't supposed to leave though.

We think Amal stopped Jawad from hitting Nabila because she didn't realize Nabila had set her up at first. When she tried to stop Jawad she still thought Nabila was her friend.

Nabila fooled us too!!! We thought she had changed! #GRAAmalSlowChat
