@Ugaman01 In the previous year, parents stopped us from going at Internet Cafes claiming that Internet was bad, now even the new curriculum tops it on its lists. Same for AI and the years ahead will be better for the early adopters.

Besides, they reaped their fortunes from the traditional makeover such as employment and farming, so they let the young ones also face their own journey.

Today, at Bulange Mengo, together with the Buganda Kingdom, we hosted Jamaican artist @spiceofficial as part of a week-long cultural immersion ahead of her concert on Saturday.

She was welcomed by the Katikkiro, Owek @cpmayiga, and inducted into the 'Enkula' (Rhino) clan under the name Nankula.

Our CEO, @JulzKagwa announced that every international artist performing in Uganda will first be invited to experience the country meaningfully before taking the stage because an immersion is an endorsement that travels further than press releases ever will.

Help me understand this ,

In Uganda we have close to 52 tribes each carrying its own history, traditions, and wisdom worth discovering. Yet there’s a pattern that disturbs my mind:
why do most celebrities and tourists believe they’ve truly experienced Uganda after visiting Buganda? After touring the #Twekobe, paying respects at the #Masiro of Kasubi, tasting Baganda cuisine, and picking up a word or two of Luganda the passport is stamped, so to speak.

So the question am asking : does Buganda represent Uganda, or is it simply the most organised and visible tribe?

Is the concentration of tourism in #Buganda purely geographical because it sits at the centre of the country, with Kampala as its backdrop or is there something deeper at play: a kingdom that structured itself early, that made itself legible to outsiders, that knew how to present its culture with confidence?

Because while Buganda commands the spotlight, 51 other tribes are waiting in the wings with stories, ceremonies, cuisines, and languages that most visitors never encounter.

Uganda is not one culture dressed in bark cloth. It is 52 cultures, and the world has barely scratched the surface.

25 YRS TODAY

Yesterday the birthday wishes were overwhelming and at one point I just gave up but remained grateful for all messages.

GREAT LAKES SAFARIS started on the 23rd of April 2001, a day after my 28th birthday.

I had spent my earlier years accumulating field experience and like I have always said, first thing you look for is a skill.

If money lands in your hands and finds without skills, that will definitely be a lost cause.

They say money can’t keep company with a fool. A fool with his money part company easily so they say!

The third picture represents my 3rd job, i worked as a tour guide earning about 5k every day I worked.

The first job I worked as a cleaner and second job I was an office messenger and all provided different experiences. It didnt matter that I was a leader throughout school days.

God helped me put my lifestyle in check upto today. It doesn’t matter how much you earn, how much you save, how much you invest, a bad lifestyle will always take you down!

In a good month, I would guide for about 15 days and some months I had nothing and therefore always saved for the rain day.

My rent was ushs 5k in slum room, used about 2k for food a week, katogo of beans and Casava would cost ushs 200 then.

I couldn’t afford 3 meals a day even with 2 planting seasons Uganda has, none of my friends can tell you I ever complained, needa.

The 3rd represents our 3rd office on Sussie house Nsambya when things had improved a lot, the first office was a briefcase one, then under the stairs was second.

In the fourth picture, you can see why I hate suits, I work hard to earn a right to dress how I want. We were celebrating 10yrs of Great Lakes safaris at Serena.

You can only grow money given to you when you have enough skills in handling it and that’s why the Japanese say money accounts for only 15% when starting a business.

Some people say, oh people don’t tell us all the stories, yes, imagine me telling about my daily frustrations with business? Some of you get tired by reading about my travels when am looking for business.

Yet you don’t see the whole picture!

You don’t see the lonely times we face in hotel rooms, the scary flights we continue to take, the failed negotiations, the malice some times.

We can only give you some pointers but the business experiences are very personal and different different days, weeks, months etc. Our lives aren’t predictable at all.

Business is majorly about solving problems by providing solutions. Some days one works less, some days i have to put in 20hrs of work.

Others like Rwenzori marathon days, I don’t sleep for 40hrs same as our whole team.Out there people say the celebrations and a good job done. Thats what matters!

We thank God for the 25yrs in business and can’t wait to see what God has for us in the next 25yrs.

TOPIC; UOX ( UGANDANS ON X)

Many Ugandans not all Ofcourse on X take it lightly and they don’t know they are used as leverage for business! It’s because of 2 planting seasons.

The owner of X turned over usd 2.9bn in 2025 and its a very big market place for his businesses. Because of 2 planting seasons, you have food, so don’t have to think hard.

When companies or individuals grow bigger, they think about controlling their narrative reason they pick interest in buying of media houses.

Being in charge of your narrative matters for individuals, businesses and countries because that determines how far you can go in wealth creation.

As a country we have done super job in pushing out our negative stories and it’s reflected in our productivity / our incomes from outside our borders.

Anyways, I know @KwikirizaNova had many ideas and he tried them but what had stood out for me was the UOX exhibition (greatest), not sure people saw it as I saw it?

When I attended it, I told him it would easily grow into a massive brand, I know how brands grow and I could see what could happen to it if he was supported.

The challenge I saw was ownership, what belongs to everyone, actually doesn’t belong to anybody. X is a very big platform which i use very well, I could actually do better if I had enough time.

UOX exhibition has or had the ability to attract some of Ugandas biggest brands in partnerships if it was consistent over time. And it’s not late.

Something we need to think about deeply is, what does our( Ugandans) presence on X bring to its owner? How much are we making? How do we grow the amount of money being made by Ugandans on X?

If we don’t ask ourselves these kind of questions, then we aren’t about to grow and it can’t be government guys asking these questions, it has to be a critical mass of us online. Critical mass matters always!

I think @KwikirizaNova should take it on as a leader but privately but some of the dividends would be given to UOX over time, it’s not an instant coffee affair. It would take close to 6 yrs before it becomes very profitable.
