Around 30 structures including mosques, several mazars (shrines), commercial establishments, and residential houses belonging to Muslims — have been demolished in Gujarat’s Kutch district over the past few days as part of an “anti-encroachment drive,” prompting allegations from residents of arbitrary action and denial of due process.

The Juna Kandla Mosque (seen in the attached video) in the Gandhidham taluka of Kutch was demolished on Sunday night. According to the mosque committee, the mosque had been registered with the Gujarat State Waqf Board since 1965.

Mohammad Samar, president of the mosque committee, said the mosque was demolished without any prior notice. “Members of the management committee attempted to approach officials after learning about the demolition, but were prevented from reaching the site,” he alleged.
