Pakistan has hosted refugees since 1947, but it is neither signatory to any international law on refugees nor it has its own refugee legislation. So there is a legal vacuum on this issue.

Kudos to @mjdawar for introducing National Refugee Bill in the National Assembly.

I introduced the National Refugee Bill 2023 in the National Assembly today. Pakistan hosts one for the largest refugees populations in the world but there are now laws to safeguard and protect the rights of refugees who are also not acknowledged as such.

The amnesty scheme granted to illegal residents in Pakistan expires on December 31st. Consequently, those overstaying in Pakistan will be fined, and the names of those who have overstayed for more than a year will be added to the blacklist.
