Recently I had the pleasure of recording a podcast with fellow mystery writer, the amazing Joanna Van Dee Vlugt. Check it out here:

@AlyannaPoe Nah - I just write at home. But my ideal environment is on a beachfront resort somewhere. Unfortunately not a lot of that happening these days
I’ve learned that instead of an ambitious word count goal, it’s better to have a bare minimum viable daily output. Mine is 1000 words. As long as I reach that, I can call it a productive day.

When you’re so sick of editing and desperate to reclaim the joy of writing and you say fuck it and start working on your next project… that’s the road to procrastination right there.

Re-reading my all-time favorite author, Sidney Sheldon, it’s clear why I can’t put his books down. He has show-vs-tell down to an art form. Knowing which scenes to describe vividly. And when to use blunt bullet point to move the story along.
They say write your novel first then edit. It’s a good idea except I write until I’m absolutely stuck and then start editing. Working through the whole story again helps me determine an apt ending.

Conundrum: The more books you write, the less marketing you have to do as someone who enjoys one book will read others. With 1 book you need to do way more marketing which takes away the time you could be writing more books…#bookmarketing
Just finished my review of The Stranger's Wife by Anna Lou Weatherley. This was a super quick read for me as I ploughed through it in a day. It didn't quite deliver the jaw-dropping twist that was promised but it still left me satisfied. #Thriller

Actually no. But I also view it as a rite of passage. Someone cared enough to leave a terrible review. At least that’s how I would choose to look at it - even if it sounds naive! :-)
