When we formed The Cue, the vision was to find a way to break down the door for Kumasi so all the rest of us could walk in. Cabum was already at that mid point where he was huge in the city but not big enough across the country (especially Accra where it mattered at the time). The day we did this photoshoot, we did it with the belief that one of the people in this picture was going to be the one who finally opens the door for the rest of the family. Lousika seemed to be the likeliest (had the looks, the work ethic and was the biggest at the time). I was the second likeliest because I had built a cult following online and I was a social media marketing genius. Eazi had the highest ceiling because he was Nigerian but he was too on & off with music to trust. K Danso was the wildcard. Kankam, who was easily the most talented wasn’t in the picture because he was unsure of his path. The funny thing is, the person who finally broke down the door, wasn’t in this picture or in consideration to be in it at all. His name is Atumpan and his song ‘The Thing’ produced by @peewezelcue (our patriarch) went as far as the BBC charts in London spearheading the Afrobeats revolution through DJ Abrantee.
