Latest monthly data shows that measles cases and outbreaks have been reported in many European countries, including popular summer holiday destinations, as well as further afield (USA, Canada, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines).

The HSE is concerned that measles outbreaks may occur in Ireland this summer as families with unvaccinated children and adults travel to countries where measles cases have been reported.

In Jan 1804, Dublin's Cow Pock Institution was founded to vaccinate against smallpox using 'cow lymph', aka cowpox. In 40 years, 170k+ people were vaccinated - from infants to the military. We're showcasing this crucial part of public health for #HiddenHistories
