The official Twitter Account for r/HerpesCureResearch the largest HSV community globally - advocating for better testing, treatments and a cure for Herpes.
@HIVptn They could start to reduce these numbers by also looking at reducing HSV infections.
30% of all new HIV infections are attributed to an HSV2 infection.
We need to get to ‘U=U’ for HSV too!
@CDCSTD STIs are preventable but only if you know you are infected!
Time for @CDCSTD to start testing for HSV in STI panels as standard!
Time for @CDCgov to invest in better testing mechanisms for HSV.
Time for treatments to full prevent transmission.
Time for change!
#Herpes#HSV
@InfoASHA Another blunder - HSV is spread through skin to skin contact not sharing cups and utensils!
The misinformation in this small infographic is so appalling.
Time for @InfoASHA to focus on facts and science not feelings. Time for testing, treatments and cures!
cc @drklausner
@InfoASHA How can @InfoASHA claim to be “America’s authority for sexual health information” and get simple facts on HSV wrong?
HSV2 is not genital herpes! It is a form of HSV that is more commonly seen in the genital area but can be acquired orally too.
Please do better!
@InfoASHA Some more facts about Herpes:
1) HSV is not tested in STI panels
2) No tests to determine location of HSV infection without symptoms
3) No treatments to prevent transmission
4) No vaccine
5) No cure
6) Increased risk of HIV
Let’s stop burying our heads in the sand!
Herpes Awareness Day 2023 some facts:
1) HSV is not tested in STI panels
2) No tests to determine location of HSV infection without symptoms
3) No treatments to prevent transmission
4) No vaccine
5) No cure
6) Increased risk of HIV
It’s 2023 people, step up!

On National Herpes Awareness Day 2023 @HerpesUk and @BASHH_UK are trying to minimise the impact that Herpes has on both physical and mental health.
If you didn’t spent all your time addressing stigma and invested more in treatments and cures we would be further along!
#herpes
@BASHH_UK@DebunkedHerpes Shame for promoting this false message!
Herpes affects future health - physically, mentally, and with increased risk of HIV and potential cognitive decline.
If you were more focused on treatment and cures instead of trying to minimise this virus we would be further along!
@HerpesUk What don’t we start working towards better treatments and cures instead of trying to minimise the affects of HSV and deny science.
“these viruses do not affect future health” is a lie.
It affects physical and mental health and causes increased risk in HIV!
Shame on HVA!
Hi @HIVptn - I know your focus is on reducing the transmission and acquisition of new HIV infections.
Have you looked at addressing HSV for this strategy? 30% of new HIV infections are attributed to an HSV2 infection, addressing this could be a huge win for your cause and ours
This is a petition we created over two years ago and still there is little change in the field of HSV.
No testing in STI panels
No treatments preventing transmission
No cures
No vaccines
Reading the comments is heartbreaking.
Sign the petition!

Listen to what @LuisSchang says here, it’s key!
HSV has very real physical and mental health implications and links to HIV
People diminish it because they prefer to bury their head in the sand as there is no cure or way to prevent transmission.
Fight the virus head on!
Often, herpes is looked as just a nuisance or “something we don’t talk about”. It actually is an important and consequential human pathogen that we must talk about. And solve it.

@JohnMcSorley10@BASHH_UK I’m praying for forwarding thinking @BASHH_UK leadership not afraid to go against the status quo to look at real change and progress in the field of HSV and STIs in general.
An eagerness to engage with patient advocacy groups would also be most welcome!
@DewsnapClaire @iwitteronandon Herpes has similar trends with regards to infection rates.
Women are 2x more likely to get HSV and African American women even more likely.
Underrepresented communities are also disproportionately impacted by the virus.
#Genitalherpes is an incurable #virus that carries a lot of #stigmas. Help us advance the understanding and treatment of herpes by getting involved in ground-breaking #clinicaltrials now enrolling near you @ https://t.co/dMRQohxj1R.
@ProfKevinFenton @tristanjbarber Have you looked at how addressing HSV could impact the number of new HIV cases?
30% of all new HIV transmissions are attributed to an HSV2 infection. This has huge potential
U.K. guidelines still do not support HSV testing in STI Panels and no treatments eliminate transmission
@michaelmina_lab@arielbeery@pookleblinky I interviewed Dr Ruth Itzhaki about the Infectious Hypothesis of Alzheimer's Disease for my new podcast, The Innovation Podcast.

I'm hearing some fairly stunning echoes between her work on AD and HSV1 and EBV, MS, & COVID.
But can we FIGHT the viruses?
