@nimilamalee Yes, which is very concerning. The delays occurred were very convincing for them. One might argue those delays were deliberate. They gained all their experience to be eligible by supplying coal only to LCC which they obtained through a very controversial deal.
@nimilamalee went through this only recently. But can you please check your claims on how Potencia was assigned after Black Sands?
AG's report in 2024 states Potencia was a newly formed, minimally capitalised shell with no prior coal trading experience.. contd..
@nimilamalee Deflect from current issue? I don't think a coal issue has been discussed to this extent ever before in Sri Lanka. Every Tom, Dick and Harry is on it. How do you even deflect from something like that?
@nimilamalee Your latest article which I have quoted does not note any irregularities with assignment of Potencia after Black Sands. I don't believe even the previous article captures the gravity of what's raised by AG report. Term tender cancellation hadn't happened back then.
AG's report on Potencia can be found here. Entire thing stinks. Looks like Potencia obtained all their experience to be registered this time by competing unfairly.

2024/25 term tender was cancelled and SCAPC decision was disregarded to award the tender to a registered supplier. Instead the tender was award to Potencia on recommendation of a different Cabinet Appointed sub committee, which is a gross violation of procurement guidelines...
@chami9539 Many similar questionable observations. For example executive summary states South African laboratory didn't have access which is untrue. It didn't have the ASTM test only for ash composition. For the rest, it was accredited.
@chami9539 I think AG gas rushed the process to get the report out as early as possible and has made many mistakes in doing that. Here, AG has overcome the HLPC decision. As per that, having registration at the time of bid submission is sufficient because the suppliers r already approved
@nimilamalee I checked the draft tender docs; Main financial requirements are $50 of annual turnover and $15 as working capital which I'd say is pretty standard. Trident would have satisfied this criteria without an issue.
@RehanJayawick Trident is a LCC registered supplier. As a part of registration, supplier needs to provide details on supplies they have completed during last 3 years. And LCC would have verified those prior to registration. So can't say background checks weren't done
@FoxNews Text book war crime. It was returning from a joint naval exercise took place in India and wasn't posing any threat at all. Even during times of war, attacking a ship that wasn't an imminent threat is a war crime. And US hasn't even declared official war against Iran.
The administration admits 🇮🇱 dragged us into the 🇮🇷 war that’s already cost too many American lives and billions of dollars. Before it’s over, the price of gas, groceries, and virtually everything else is going to go up. The only winners in 🇺🇸 are defense company shareholders.
