i hope my oomfs realize that as much as i love them and respect their point of view on mappi, i consider it harmful how they still get along with people who do not respect other's opinions and have called people like me disgusting or abuse-apologists over this discourse
feels like ppl have already made it up in their minds that mahiru abused him and only considers things that affirms this preconception or interpretations that align with such. this all despite the GLARING holes hidden beneath her contorted perception of reality.
@hlyfknsht40000 example of this is when people interpret some lines like "breakup ritual" and "sometimes we fought, i was happy to get hurt" only as mahiru's actions, as if it is not only possible but more believable that both of them perpetuated these dynamics. "let's have matching pain"
@hlyfknsht40000 even if we were to believe that her idea of love shattered his autonomy, people who believe this fail to explain how this happened, how did mahiru coerce him ?
@hlyfknsht40000 i am glad a bigger account is saying this. we do not have a "canon" for someone to insult you over "minimizing abuse".
i too believe that mappibf fell in love with mahiru's idea of love, if not already having it before her, thus dying after realizing love could not protect them
@hlyfknsht40000 i think people do not see that maybe he too believed in this love. in the forest, in those conditions, i do not think he died because mahiru was too toxic, but because he could not handle the situation anymore but also could not face the truth that their love would not save them
@hlyfknsht40000 me too. i think mahiru was toxic since she was so deep into her fantasy world to not notice her boyfriend's decline, but also it is his own responsibility to take care of himself
@hlyfknsht40000 as far as i know, abuse requires exerting control over someone. as much as i respect people interpreting mappi as an abuser, i have yet to see someone to tell me what control did mahiru exert over her boyfriend
@KMirei_ i agree that you can interpret the case in ways that would lead you to believe mahiru is an abuser, and i respect that, but to interpret her as such they would have to establish what power mahiru exerts over mappibf, something people do not do.
the problem is that most of you do not know what abuse really is. saying mappibf "should have said no" (as hard as it was) is not victim blaming, not when there is no proof that he was being coerced in any way. (1/2)
@KMirei_ thank you for saying this ! you expressed a lot of my thoughts in a very clear ways. i agree you can not call someone an abuser without establishing what power she held over her partner, when control is the core of abuse. people fail to understand that not abusive ≠ healthy
