@PittsburgWizard @mattyglesias No no no, Matt only wants to cut bureaucracy and red tape when it would benefit developers and other large moneyed interests.
@mattyglesias Same reason people went after Plouffe for working for Uber. Nobody would have made a stink if he just worked for a taxi company. The issue is that he actively helped them undermine democracy and dismantle regulatory apparatus to help give a huge corporation a monopoly.
@mattyglesias Sometimes it feels like you’re looking for the most disingenuous possible take. Obviously the issue with consulting for Kalshi isn’t that they are a for profit company but that they’re basically a platform to normalize and commodify corruption.
@itsandrewgao@united Had a similar argument with the @FedEx phone AI yesterday. Took 2 calls to get there. The first time I just kept asking until it finally said “I can’t connect you with an agent” and literally hung up on me. Second call I got a little more tricky and finally got to a person.
@griffinsounds Oh man, I was having a rough week a month or two ago, and Casey texted me “come see Dan Reeder tonight at Mississippi” and I’m so glad I did.
THREAD. Every day I get to work with amazing people from all walks of life who are dedicating their lives to fighting government repression and corporate predation. They do it strategically and relentlessly. The incompetence and grifting of political elites makes a mockery of it.
This perfectly says what I’ve been feeling in my heart over the last few weeks. Friends on both “sides” of the difficult decision to support one genocide-supporter to defeat another, worse one.
I do want debate among comrades. What’s not helpful is what prevails right now: people either moralistically hector those who refuse to vote Harris or, alternately, condemn those who do vote Harris. No one wants to talk strategy, it’s all “I’m a good person, you’re a bad person.”
Let’s honor the optimism of those who still see hopeful light in the Democratic Party and have put their shoulder to the unenviable wheel of steering it towards justice.
