Yesterday, 50 years ago, I was forced to leave everything I had ever known behind. In the dark haze of the morning, my family and I fled as everything around us crumbled. Saigon had fallen, and so had the lives my family had built for us.
Fortunate to be embraced by American kindness and opportunity, I earned my place as an American and Texan. Ever since arriving in this great state so many years ago, I never took for granted this blessing of freedom, opportunity, and compassion.
From my first job in the United States as a busboy to being a member of the greatest state legislature in the nation, I serve, I speak, I fight for freedom and opportunity because it is never guaranteed. I commit to the values of this state and nation for my family, for my lost land, for my children and yours, and to always be that light in the darkness that is communism.

Happy Sine Die!
The 89th session has been one for the books! I've met with so many amazing organizations, constituents, and staff to make the best decisions and do my best every day I come to the capitol to represent HD 149.
We sent 6 bills to the Governor's desk and introduced over 20 pieces of legislation that would have made an impact on everyday Texans.
I also recognized so many amazing people and heartfelt celebrations on the House floor like Vietnamese American Day at the capitol and the fall of Saigon where I was honored to tell my story.
Thank you, friends, staff, and everyone who stopped by our office. The early committee meetings and long nights on the House floor have always and will always be for the people of HD 149.

Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday today!
Your words and messages truly made my day special, and I am grateful for each of you.

This bill is one the most important and impactful pieces of legislation i've ever filed and not only has it passed both chambers but is headed to the Governor.
HB 4454 will make healthcare more honest and protect patients better. It creates a group to look into and suggest ways to improve how rules are enforced against misleading marketing and patient
brokering.
The bill also tightens rules on how treatment facilities advertise by broadening what counts as advertising, making them share details about referral deals, and raising fines for breaking these rules.

Another Bill makes it to the Governor's desk
SB 2069 the senate companion and identical to HB 2711 that I filed passed the house and senate and has been sent to the Governor.
Thank you @judithzaffirini for working with my office to get this critical texan saving bill passed.
SB 2069 directs the Health and Human Services Commission to form a group to explore creating a database of available psychiatric beds in Texas. This database would update in real-time, showing where there are open beds for people in mental health emergencies. The aim is to help healthcare providers find treatment options faster, reducing delays and improving care for those in need.

Freedom is not free.
Our brave men and women who serve deserve our thanks, our respect, our honor, and to never forget their service and especially their ultimate sacrifice.

CRITICAL BILL UPDATE 🚨
HB 3698, 3699, and 3700 all passed both the house and senate and are headed to the governors desk!
HB 3698 – Requires certain unemployment benefit recipients to participate in job search or reemployment services as a condition for receiving benefits.
HB 3699 - Streamline and revise the process for filing initial unemployment claims.
HB 3700 – Direct the Texas Workforce Commission to strengthen fraud prevention systems and create ways for the public to report fraud, waste, or abuse in workforce programs.
Proud of these bills and working with everyone to get these significant improvements to Texans’ lives onto the governor’s desk.

Happy Buddha Day at the Capitol.
Today was the first of hopefully many here in Austin to recognize the teachings and celebrate the Buddha.
Peace, compassion, and the journey to inner peace have moved millions, and I hope that this celebration of Vesak today moved us all closer to understanding and kindness.
Thank you @salmanbhojanitx for hosting this wonderful event.

Thank you Rep. @HubertVo149 for hosting and celebrating the Vietnamese American community at the Capitol! Grateful to join in honoring this rich heritage with boba, stories, and solidarity.

Happy Vietnamese American Day from some of the best folks in the Capitol!
Thank you everyone for coming out to sip some boba tea and celebrate the enduring spirit of the Vietnamese American community!

WATCH: "I know because I was one of them."
Rep. @HubertVo149 reminds colleagues that SB 17 would have labeled him and his family as threats when they fled Vietnam.
This bill punishes those who escaped the very regimes it claims to target.
#txlege
If #SB17 were law when I fled a tyrannical communist government, I would not have been able to live my American dream
How could I, or anyone who fled communism, support a law such as SB 17? This bill closes the door on the very freedom and opportunity we once sought. It offers no real path to call this place home, and voting for this bill would be turning our backs on others fleeing the same oppression we once escaped.
Texas should proudly welcome those who play by the rules and not brand them as traitors. These people are not enemies of the state; they are our neighbors and should not be put in the crosshairs by this bad bill.
#txlege
@HubertVo149 shouldn't be fighting against racism, xenophobia, and hatred.
In 2025, all AAPI Americans should have access to the American Dream, and SB 17 closes the door to an entire community. #TXLEGE
I have been dreading this day for 3 years.
Watching in slow motion as we eagerly repeat the sins of our past.
Senate Bill 17 will strip away property ownership rights of #AAPI immigrants, based solely on national origin.
Hate has no home in Texas, but we do.

It’s teacher appreciation week here in Texas, and I’m so proud to have been a supporter of Texas Teschers since day 1.
I proudly filed a bill this session to ensure, in a changing landscape, our public school employees (especially teachers) get the paid time off they deserve to rest, relax, and reset their mental health.
I also joined my @texashousedems in voting against the voucher scam.
Texas teachers are the backbone of our state, and they deserve support no matter what.

Thank you to my colleague @HubertVo149 for introducing HR 963 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the fall of South Vietnam.
This recognition honors the resilience of the Vietnamese refuges who fled and reminds us of the value of freedom and opportunity. #txlege
