Hudson Williams opens up about his rapid rise to fame for @EW!

“That kind of fervor is something Williams is still getting used to, almost a year after he exploded onto the world stage. But he wasn’t sure if it would extend to Yaga. 

‘Sometimes you’re not quite aware if people are just excited about the property that you exist in or if the excitement can actually exist outside of that and what you wanna do,’ he explains. ‘It was my first announced project outside of, obviously, ‘Heated Rivalry’. So having the excitement come to this wildly different genre — the characters aren’t even remotely similar — it was gratifying and hopeful to me that, if I venture out, I still have the goodness of the fans.’

Regarding those fans, ‘Sometimes they scare me,’ he acknowledges. That’s because the actor, facing the enormity of instant fame at the age of 25, values his anonymity. There are times, as he puts it, when he’d love to remain tucked away in a cellar sanctuary with his friends around him. ‘It’s so much more of a rarity nowadays,’ he says.

It’s a relatable desire. ‘When you’re walking down the street, most people don’t want to be stopped to talk to 10-30 strangers — as much as they’re perfectly well-intentioned, good, kind people,’ he continues. ‘I wanna listen to music and be selfish over my Starbucks and sit in silence with my book. So those things are very pragmatic. How do I deal with this? How do I still protect my peace?’

That’s by no means to say he doesn’t appreciate the fandom. In the case of something like Yaga, ‘They’re the people that keep what we do alive,’ he notes, ‘and without people watching, there’s nothing.’”
