@Spikels@SciGuySpace That black background quote is dumb as hell. He’s saying fixed price isn’t valuable over cost plus cuz while it saves money, the schedule can still slip. Saving 10s of billions of dollars isn’t valuable? And has NASA ever had a major cost plus contract delivered on schedule? No!
@ProvenWrongish@DJSnM@JoeLong620 Because there’s a flight termination system that triggers if the rockets go off course by much, limiting path deviation. Also, as rocket gets higher it’ll break up more by the time it falls near people (planes only fly so high). Significant pieces will deviate from path the least
@kevinmorice@dcrainmakerblog Good point for shoes & bikes. For the recording device, the user doesn’t report which was used, the device itself does. So Ray’s right, they should either compare Apple Watch (all models) vs Garmin Forerunner (all models), OR break it down by specific model, not a mix of both
@altini_marco Presumably there’s a bit of a negative effect in that you use your muscles a little differently going up vs down vs flat. If the grade isn’t steep, this is probably not a big deal. If it is, then you at least should train like the race as the date gets closer. Specificity matters
@avsterbone@MalloryMcMorrow@SarahAnthony517 Get real. Credit card companies are hugely profitable charging 20-25% APR. Payday lenders will still be profitable charging 36%. They aren’t going to close shop just because they make less easy money from doing hardly any work. They will still be around for people to use.
@Alan_Couzens Let’s not forget about technique, strategy and tactics. In cycling they matter a great deal. In any sport you can fail to realize your potential by poor execution on the day
@eratdaltx@Erdayastronaut @johnpisaniphoto If SpaceX attempted to land at Hawaii they would be in major trouble with the FAA and probably Congress too. You don’t go off script with a huge experimental ballistic projectile putting lives at risk. And you don’t lie to the FAA whose job is to ensure safety. They aren’t dumb
@Round3Jourdain@Alan_Couzens@CommunistoObama Any intensity duration longer than a few seconds, or without full rest between efforts, will benefit from increased aerobic fitness. If you breathe hard during your sport, that’s proof that you can benefit from more base. If also do a bit of focused intensity work, should be fine
@KevoP2003 @Alan_Couzens I wouldn’t use that metric unless you carefully pick your input data. Descending, climbing, group rides, etc can throw that off because your speed (therefore km) per heart beat will be thrown off, even at the same heart rate. An alternative is heart rate for a given power zone
@Spacecolonize@Peter_J_Beck@Kemp@thesheetztweetz How the hell do you put Blue as number 2 when they have yet to put *anything* into orbit while many others have? The only thing they’re #2 in are joy rides and toilet humor
@Alan_Couzens Echo chambers use a few, often biased sources of info that repeat the same “facts” and perspectives. New info is rejected & distorted if doesn’t match ideology. It’s the opposite of the scientific method. I think what you mean is settle on a philosophy, don’t jump between them.
"DC statehood wouldn't actually help Democrats that much!!"
What if I told you that giving 700,000 people equal representation is a good thing regardless of which party it helps?
