@trandell88@MayoJ19@HockeyCanada Just my opinion, you know the facts & figures. Divide that amount by # of tax payers ( and there is usually 2 people in a taxpayers household). I would gladly pay the $30-50 extra to see the BMHA registration numbers rise. Back to Jamie’s issue. Hockey Canada may be over staffed
@trandell88@MayoJ19@HockeyCanada Well you know I am pretty naive about municipal budgets and all that but yes. Minor hockey ice rental is probably a spit in the ocean of a city’s budget. raise my taxes. I attended a U7 Funday Saturday. It is worth it !
@trandell88@MayoJ19@HockeyCanada I would say yes. Make recreation a legitimate expense item in the city budget. If need be a token fee for ice rental. Might have to scale back on staffing and hours. There seems to be a wide variance in ice rental fees in Eastern Ontario ( no I can’t back that up with figures ).
@MayoJ19@HockeyCanada Is it Hockey Canada or city rec depts who price ice rental way out of proportion. They should treat recreation as an investment not an expense. Free ice for minor hockey!
@MayoJ19@HockeyCanada It is not just hockey & not just Canada. I was inn Charlotte and a parent of one of travelling soccer team said “There is at least 11 better players playing soccer in the park but can’t afford our team”
The West Division champion Saginaw Spirit (@SpiritHockey) have put a lot into the next 10 days, hosting the #MemorialCup presented by @DowNewsroom on home ice.
