🚨🔵 BREAKING: Marco Palestra to Chelsea, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties.
Atalanta to receive package over €55m fee plus sell-on clause, long term deal to Italian talented RWB.
Chelsea hijack Inter move and get new talent for Xabi Alonso.
I'm calm because I'm almost certain that we are going to have a good season with Xabi Alonso.
But I hope and wish our fanbase will be more supportive this time. The start could be inconsistent, but we must stay calm and supportive.
We already know that Alonso is top-class, so whatever happens, we must give him time. The instability we suffered this season is a good example of what comes with a change of coach. It can go both ways.
For me, it's maximum support and trust for Alonso. I don't want to see another change any time soon. He's my present and future.
Welcome back to possibly the last bonus point + DEFCON round up of the season!
👉🏻Bruno Fernandes remains on 1 bonus point.
But why did he rank lower than Cunha despite creating 8 chances?
Bruno actually accumulated 4bps more than Cunha in the game. But he also had more negative actions:
Bruno was tackled 5 times (-5bps), had 2 shots off target (-2bps) and also made an error which led to a shot (-1bps)
= -8bps total.
Cunha was tackled just twice (-2bps) and committed one foul (-1bps)
= -3bps total.
👉🏻The United game actually updated in time for FPL and we had no bonus or DEFCON changes.
Dewsbury-Hall came agonisingly close to bonus, despite no attacking returns.
KDH had one of his dispossessions removed in the update (+1bps), but still landed just 2bps short.
He had a great game nonetheless:
• Hit the max pass threshold (+6bps)
• Created 3 chances, including one big chance (+6bps total)
• Fouled 3 times (+3bps)
• Completed 3 successful crosses and 2 successful dribbles (+5bps total)
All of this alongside a couple of other actions!
👉🏻Ultimately we had no bonus or DEFCON changes in the Everton game
👉🏻Van Hecke failed to hit DEFCON.
👉🏻Gross kept his bonus point.
Gross actually lost a valuable CBI point (-1bps) whilst Bijol gained 3 valuable CBI points (+2bps). This would have taken him into the bonus and above Gross!
However Gross had one of his 4 chances created deemed a ‘big chance’ (+3bps), and thus comfortably providing a cushion for bonus.
Incidentally, Karl Darlow hit a whopping 40bps in this game:
The 4 saves he made inside the box alone (out of 7) earned him +12bps! The same bps value as a defender scoring!
👉🏻Thiaw failed to hit DEFCON.
👉🏻Bruno G kept his DEFCON (actually gained 1DC).
👉🏻Bowen gained 1DC and ended on 10.
Little shout out to Nick Pope, who made 6 saves inside the box (+18bps) - the same bps reward as a midfielder goal! He didn’t manage bonus but was admirably close despite conceding.
👉🏻No bonus point changes occurred in the Newcastle game.
👉🏻Both Krejci and Santiago Bueno lost their DEFCON in the update. Bueno actually lost 2DC, down from 11 to 9!
Castagne nearly crept into bonus. He initially had an “error leading to a shot” (-1bps), but this was removed in the update and so subsequently missed bonus by just 1bps.
👉🏻No bonus point changes occurred in the Fulham game.
Ismaila Sarr had a poor showing in the bps and a way off bonus despite scoring.
This is largely due to this season’s lower bps award for penalty goals (+12bps).
If Sarr scored the penalty last season, he would have ended up with 1 bonus point here.
👉🏻No bonus point or DEFCON changes occurred in the Brentford game.
Nothing much to report today sadly but I hope the detailed breakdowns offer some useful insight!
I hope this roundup series has been enjoyable to read this season and I very much look forward to posting every week next year!
Hopefully we see a final deadline time adjustment to go with it!! 🤞🏻
Thanks for reading 😊

🚨JUST IN: Rooney says Xabi Alonso should add John Terry to his assistant coaches and says they will be unbeatable
"If Xabi Alonso really takes the Chelsea job, the first phone call I’m making is to John Terry. Honestly, I think that combination would be frightening for the rest of the league."
"Xabi gives you the tactical side — the structure, the control, the modern football ideas. But John Terry gives you something different. He gives you mentality."
"When you think about the best Chelsea teams, Terry was the heartbeat of all of them. He understood pressure, leadership, dressing room standards — things you cannot teach from a tactics board."
"Chelsea have talented players already, nobody doubts that. What they’ve lacked at times is personality during difficult moments in matches. Terry would immediately raise the standards inside that dressing room."
"And imagine young defenders learning every day from someone like Terry while also working under a coach as intelligent as Xabi Alonso. That’s dangerous."
"You need balance in coaching staffs now. One coach handles the tactical details, another drives intensity and mentality. Xabi and Terry would complement each other perfectly
"I honestly think fans would reconnect with the club immediately if they saw a figure like Terry back on the touchline. Some people just represent Chelsea."
"Put those two together with the squad Chelsea already have, and I genuinely believe they could become one of the hardest teams in Europe to beat again.
🚨The difference between Xabi Alonso, Maresca and Rosenior is very clear.
Enzo Maresca came from the Championship and still managed to win two trophies in his first season at Chelsea that deserves respect.
But Xabi Alonso is on another level in terms of experience and pedigree.
This is a man who was coached by Pep Guardiola, Mourinho, Ancelotti and Benitez. He won major trophies in England with Liverpool, in Germany with Bayern Munich, and in Spain under both Mourinho and Ancelotti. He also won the World Cup and the Euros with Spain.
As a manager, he already transformed Leverkusen into champions playing elite football. He developed players like Wirtz and Frimpong into stars that Liverpool ended up paying huge money for.
Chelsea didn’t appoint him as just a “head coach” we made him manager. That alone tells you the level of trust and authority he commands.
Xabi Alonso is a proven winner both as a player and as a manager. The difference is clear. #cfc
