I make films for a living. I built Screenplay Editor because I was tired of paying for bloated software just to format a script. It's a free Google Docs add-on. Pro formatting, export to PDF or .fdx. That's it. → https://t.co/orlWFJ3rRj
@nonymouslia Worth noting there are also solid free options now. The Screenplay Editor add-on for Google Docs handles proper formatting automatically. Great for writers who don't want to drop money on standalone software like Celtx or Fade In right away.
@PrinceKozi If you've never written in script format before, don't stress, the formatting rules are pretty simple once you get used to them. One easy option is Screenplay Editor, a free Google Docs add-on that auto-formats everything (scene headings, action, dialogue) as you type
Best screenwriting advice I ever got: write badly on purpose. The blank page is terrifying because you're trying to be good. Just be bad first. The rewrite is where the magic happens.
@7vulpo Script format is genuinely fun to write in once it clicks! If you're looking for a free and low-friction way to keep practicing, Screenplay Editor is a Google Docs add-on that handles all the formatting automatically
Hot take: Google Docs is better than any screenwriting software. Real-time collab, free, works everywhere, automatic saving. The only thing missing was proper screenplay formatting. So I fixed that.
To collaborate on Final Draft you literally have to send someone a code like MPX89489844 and pray it works. It's like sharing files during the Soviet Union. Half the time the connection drops. This software costs $250.
@LadySoleil33@AVARY@ai_massive Hey thank you so much! So cool that you worked with Syd Field btw!
