@RichieMitch99@flomsie But when we are talking about the average person on an average wage. They are going to be stuck in a mortgage for 30 years and probably stuck in a job they hate so they can pay the mortgage to be mortgage free at 60, at which point their health will probably be shit and pension
@RichieMitch99@flomsie If you can pay a high deposit and over pay monthly payments to reduce interest massively then yes. Doing this on multiple properties can build generational safety but get rich I’m not too sure. But then there’s all the extra fees you will pay to own multiple properties
@RichieMitch99@flomsie It’s a bigger problem than that. House prices are not realistic compared to wages. Agenda 2030 you will own nothing and be happy. They don’t want people to own houses in the long run
@RichieMitch99@flomsie It’s not simple for everyone if their livelihood or business in down south to just move 5+ hours from friends and family. Why doesn’t everyone just moved to a third world country then, it will be cheaper
@RichieMitch99@flomsie I don’t disagree that owning the house you live in is bad or think that renting is the way to go. In the south of England the price of a decent house is just too much which makes the numbers on a mortgage not good
@RichieMitch99@flomsie Where are you getting a 5 bed house with a £900 mortgage? The house would have to be valued at under £200k. You offer investment and finance advice?
@flomsie We live in a society that relies on financing more than ever. Our fiat currency is worth less than ever. People would realise how poor they were if financing wasn’t a thing and they had to buy things in full. Can Klarna a takeaway now 😂
@RichieMitch99@flomsie Do they really though? I’m sure if you asked most people with a mortgage how much it will cost them over the whole period they wouldn’t know. Most people just get a mortgage because it’s what everyone else does. Same with car finance, they just think about deposit and monthly pay
@staforde10@flomsie It just seems mad to pay the bank that much money in interest over that time and have a 2.5k payment to make every month which most of it is just interest. Property now just seems more unrealistic than ever and this is really due to inflation
@staforde10@flomsie It’s not that simple thought. Over a 30 year term you will likely end up paying 900k in total if you were the see the mortgage to the end of its term. This is more guaranteed than the house tripling in value over that course of time.
@flomsie Most people never really see the benefit of their house going up in value due to the amount of interest they’ve paid and all the fees they will pay to sell and move into a new property. Unless they are smart and put a bigger deposit and earn enough to overpay mortgage payments
