I’ve always wondered if Snape’s role in Hedwig’s death was more complicated than we think.
He knew the real Harry had to disappear among the seven Potters, and Hedwig was one of the easiest ways for Death Eaters to identify him.
I’m not convinced Snape personally killed her, but I do think he may have known Hedwig was a liability and allowed it to happen to keep Harry’s cover intact.
It would be a brutal choice, but that’s exactly the kind of thing Snape was willing to do to protect Harry.

That scene is so much smarter once you know Snape’s secret. 🖤

McGonagall is fighting him for real. The other professors think Snape has betrayed Hogwarts. And Snape never actually turns his wand on McGonagall,he keeps redirecting her attacks until they hit the Carrows behind him.

Then he escapes through the window.

From everyone else’s perspective: Snape ran.

From the audience’s perspective after the reveal: Snape just protected McGonagall and removed two Death Eaters without exposing himself.

And that’s the tragedy of his entire final year. Almost every good thing he does has to look evil from the outside. He can’t explain himself, can’t defend his actions, and can’t even let the people he’s protecting know he’s protecting them.

It’s one of the rare scenes where knowing the ending completely changes what you’re watching.

Snape doesn’t get to be the hero in the room. He has to be the villain so the real villains keep trusting him. 🖤

Complicated.

Snape is too cruel to call “good,” too self-sacrificing to call “evil,” too bitter to call “kind,” and too brave to dismiss as a coward.

He spends his life carrying love, guilt, resentment, regret, and duty all at once.

That’s what makes him Snape.

The more I watch Snape’s fight with McGonagall, the crazier that scene gets.
Everyone is focused on McGonagall attacking him, but Snape never actually attacks her. He keeps redirecting her spells until they hit the two Death Eaters standing behind him, taking them out instead.
Then he escapes through the window before the other teachers can get to him.
And the crazy part is that everyone in that room thinks Snape is running away because he’s a coward. They have no idea he just protected them without blowing his cover.
That’s what makes Snape’s whole role so sad. He was helping them while making everyone believe he was against them.

Lily Evans and Severus Snape had been inseparable long before Hogwarts. They found comfort in each other when neither of them felt like they belonged anywhere else.

But Hogwarts changed them.

Lily joined Gryffindor. Snape joined Slytherin and became increasingly drawn to dark magic and pure blood ideology. At the same time, James Potter and Sirius Black repeatedly bullied him, feeding his anger and bitterness.

Lily tried to understand him, but there came a point where she could no longer accept the choices he was making.

Then, in their fifth year, everything fell apart.

After James publicly humiliated him, Snape lashed out and called Lily a "Mudblood."

That was the moment Lily finally walked away.

It wasn’t simply because they ended up in different houses. It was because the boy she had once trusted was becoming someone whose beliefs and actions she could no longer accept.

Snape never truly recovered from losing her. His regret followed him for the rest of his life, and his love for Lily ultimately shaped the choices he made afterward.

Their friendship didn’t end because they stopped caring.

It ended because, somewhere along the way, Snape became someone Lily could no longer stand beside.

Probably not in any simple way.

Harry already has Lily’s eyes, and Snape knows that. But he also has James’s messy hair, face, mannerisms, and—most importantly for Snape,he is James and Lily’s son. That combination is exactly what makes Harry such a painful person for Snape to deal with.

If Harry had physically resembled Lily more strongly, I could imagine Snape having moments where his affection for Lily made him softer. But it probably wouldn’t erase the resentment. Snape’s problem wasn’t simply “Harry looks like James.” It was that Harry constantly reminded him of everything he had lost: Lily, his friendship with her, his own mistakes, and the life he might have had.

And there’s a brutal irony: Harry already carries the part of Lily that matters most to Snape,her eyes. Yet Snape still treats him harshly.

So I think a more Lily-like appearance might have made Harry easier for Snape to look at, but it wouldn’t necessarily have made their relationship healthy.

Snape didn’t hate Harry because Harry looked too much like James.

He hated how much Harry forced him to remember. 🖤

@axolotium Faz sentido, não tem muitos bruxos como vocês imaginam, por exemplo Reino Unido tem 10 milhões adolescentes por aí todo junto e Hogwarts pelos livros dá a entender que tem umas 2 mil alunos por ano, tem muitos mais muggles que bruxos, na América do Sul se calhar nem 200 mil bruxo

@burmillass @CentralHogwarts Acredito que na série vão fazer uma mistura dos 2, foi a própria Rowling que permitiu isso nos filmes e ela está como produtora da série também, acredito que irá colocar as cenas mais cruéis mas também deste tipo. Ela quer Snape cruel mas ligeiramente mais humano
