Come in she said I'll give yeurgh
Shelter from the storm

CATCH

Wandering through
the shallow water,
she looked up at the dunes
and said 'catch'.

Looking down at her I smiled,
waved like a dance,
and ignored the black ball
that flew past.

The fire pit
was just the start of it -
before the bamboo grew right through you,
before the birds flew in to sit

Hot horse hair,
cold leather,
waxed coats -
it was a world of water
that was making me choke

Like a full-court press
in a game of chess,
we were already spent.
