iOS 18 Photos app is kind of a mess. Some interesting ideas but the reliance on overlay sheets you have to X out with a tiny touch target is not great. Also it’s sluggish even on the brand new 16 Pro
@alfred_twu@constans@GreyGhostVolvo Haha yup. Two summers ago I was doing a point to point hike on Maui that requires hitchhiking to start. No one stopped for a long time til a bro and his gf took me up a windy mountain road in the back of their U-Haul pickup. First person to stop in 20+ minutes.
@MikeIsaac ChatGPT can be surprisingly good as a stsrtingv point (before they added all the Bing crap especially). E.g. “what are the 5 best luxury hotels in Bern and include how close they are to the main train station”
@rm_3649 @dieworkwear Check out Roros Tweed as well if you’re looking at throws. Their heavier blankets are awesome. I use a Faribault throw in the less cold months but Roros is the VIP at my place.
Was really loving @OpenAI ChatGPT for helping with travel planning but now it's kicking things like asks for luxury hotels to Bing, which puts me back in the SEO doom loop.
@vernonk@slicknet With growth of social networks/YouTube, more and more people are building their own personal “brand” around tooling. There’s money to be made in coming off (often too strongly IMO) as an expert.
@patio11 In my experience, PMs and EMs tend to avoid features that are difficult to QA. And lot of mobile engineers will be resistant to building elaborate test scaffolding—probably because iOS/Android platforms change frequently without their control.
@EvanDHynes@DannyReccs If you’re a California lifer (I did one year in Chicago) like me you’ll enjoy the seasons. Some winters milder than others. Good clothing helps and high rise living means no shoveling (plus snow doesn’t last long. nothing compared to MPLS or Canada). Hardest part is gray days.
@EvanDHynes@DannyReccs Chicago’s the right answer here. Live in a high rise with a lake view. Will be cheaper than SF despite improved amenities, cleaner than NY, and you can walk to the beach in summer plus walk/bike along the lake. Plus whole Midwest to explore.
