i appreciate @sheldonblewis.
a few weeks back, i really wanted to show up to watch @hulloitskai make his debut as a fire-spinner at a special parade event.
but i was a bit late, and i biked in on a toronto city bike. I didn't have time to put my bike into a docking station.
moving along with the tight crowd, while holding my phone to take photos, was becoming quite cumbersome. but i didn't want to miss Kai's entrance.
sheldo saw my struggle, and told me to hold his beer. he grabbed the bike, and ventured off to find a docking station for me, leaving me in the perfect spot to capture the moment.
when in doubt, always look for the helpers.
thanks alot dude
How often do you add someone to your linkedin at a networking event and never talk to them again?
I'm tired of it. So I invented something called Commitment Cards. It's like a chequebook for commitments to follow up with a new connection.
Last night at @HustleFundVC's awesome VC pitching event, I had an awesome chat with one of the pitchers, a dude name Rida from SednaOS.
He said he doesn't use socials, but he seemed like a genuine cool person I'd like to have a longer chat with. So i pulled out my Connection Cards Chequebook, and we made plans to grab a coffee in a few weeks.
The most fun part is tearing out the card. SO satisfying.
This week, the Stadium will be open everyday, starting at 10AM until later in the evenings.
A variety of events will be happening throughout the week, with a live ambient music performance to cap it off.

What happens when you put an eclectic mix of 60+ builders, artists, storytellers, and the general curious public, all together on a 10k walk... and you don't let them talk about work?
It's everything you don't get when you're glued to your phone.
It's the opposite of what sucks you into your feed and doesn't let you go.
It's the opposite of loneliness. It's being seen, and seeing others, in a curious light.
It's a continuous human flow of connection.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible. It was a birthday I'll never soon forget. And SO MANY people helped make this possible.
Feels surreal for it to be sat morning and not running the walks. I guess this weekend is a bit of a special one.
First, my live storytelling company has been contracted to put on a story at an annual Gala for the mental health org, Hong Fook.
I've spent the last 3 months coaching one of their clients to share her story - she lived with schizophrenia for 20 years and finally found her way out the other end. It's deeply emotional and a testimant to the power of supportive family and unconditional love, and i can't wait to have it be performed in front of 400 black tie guests, along with the Mayor of Markham and a celebrity chef!
and then of course, tomorrow I run the Friends We Made w/ @hulloitskai . Over 130 sign ups to walk as a giant human algorthim driven off of one parameter - keep the conversations based in curiosity. Also there's a big DJ chill party at the end. Can't wait to see how this experiment folds out.
Grateful to have the support of @godwinhschan, @npraval12, and many others to pull this thing off.
And I'm so happy to be working on projects that try to create deeper connection and understanding between people. It's just so fking fun.
this sunday, we're building an IRL "social media feed"
we're amassing a group of 70+ people on a 10k step walk through the park in Toronto.
no clickbait. there will be no underlying algorithm. no ads or hooks. you cannot try and sell anything, or try to impress anyone or flirt.
you just gotta stay curious and ditch your ego.
people will be encouraged to jump between conversations, like a bunch of real-life posts and comments floating around for anyone to grasp.
we're also going to give people emoji stickers they can put on others if they want to share a "reaction"
and it'll end with a DJ dance party in a coffee shop
