📸 Running Digital Assets as a Business

Following our Commander Prividium announcement, leaders from @The_DTCC, @NYSE and @carinetwork shared the stage with @gluk64 discussing what are the missing pieces for digital assets to run seamlessly inside financial institutions.

[ZKsync @zksync]

Prividium is coming to Japan. 🇯🇵

Today we announce a partnership with NexBridge, the country's leading digital financial infrastructure company, to bring Prividium to Japanese financial institutions and jointly develop use cases matched to local regulatory requirements.

[ZKsync @zksync]

Some announcements need a second script.

Monday. Or Tuesday. Depending where you are.

The fact that Croatia has become the most tourist-saturated country in the world makes me really sad.

When tourism becomes your entire economy:

- real estate prices shoot up until locals can't afford to live there
- seasonal jobs replace real careers
- the dream shrinks to owning one apartment and renting it out
- white collar jobs disappear because there's no one to hire for them
- you start importing cheap labor because locals won't do service jobs for what the market pays

And if you check any country where tourism is a major percentage of GDP, they're almost all poor countries. Croatia is at roughly 50%. Half of our economy is people showing up, drinking, and leaving.

Tragic.

This is why I never have and never will do calls

Many institutions assumed that compliance = no public blockchains. A former Acting FinCEN Director is debunking it here. Open markets are perfectly fine as long as you run real controls in your applications.

The only truly hard part was privacy. That's why we built Prividium.

As someone with ADHD, the office is the worst possible environment for me. Constant distractions, getting pulled into every conversation, and never having my optimal setup completely wreck my focus.
Remote for almost 8 years and I’ve never felt more productive.

[@jason @Jason]

I have now learned that <10% of humans perform better working from home.

10-20% are as good working from home

75-80%+ perform better at the office

90% of founders/managers are better at leading in-office 10% are capable of managing primarily remote teams

What’s your first-hand experience?

[gabriel shapiro @lex_node]

I foresee a future where every corporation should just have its own prividium to confidentially manage its cap table onchain etc.--hopefully using @MetaLeX_Labs tech out of the box

start with a fully private cap table & corpFi stack, move it to public chains as you scale into public capital markets...

[Marko Jukic @mmjukic]

I think it's bizarre and ahistorical of extremely recent history when people blame or worry about AI job loss when deindustrialization, overregulation, overcredentialing, mass immigration, outsourcing, Boomer obstructionism in careers and construction, etc. are all right there.

[Auðmundr @Audmund]

If we don't even own our compute, then we truly have nothing in this thing called civilization. Your vote can, will, was ignored. Your right to property can, will, was ignored. Your right to privacy can, will, was ignored. I could go on and on.

[ALEX | ZK @gluk64]

Today we reduced the size of the Matter Labs team. This was my decision, and I want to explain it.

In 2024 we began building for regulated financial institutions. That work became Prividium, and the entire company is now committed to one goal: building the infrastructure that brings enterprises and regulated financial institutions onchain, with privacy at its core.

As that work has progressed, we have learned a great deal about where our customers need it to go. Meeting that direction calls for a different mix of skills and roles than the phase before it, and some of what made sense earlier is not what we need now. That is the reason for today's changes.

It hurts, because this is not about the effort or talent of the people leaving, who I deeply respect. They are some of the strongest engineers, designers, and operators I have worked with.

Everyone leaving has been offered financial support, and we are helping with the transition wherever we can.

If you are hiring, you can request access to our opt-in talent list here:

To everyone leaving: thank you for what you built here, and for the standard you set.

Alex

🚨 It's not just ZCash.

Opus 4.8 also found a vulnerability in $USD that allows for unlimited issuance which could theoretically enrich insiders at the expense of all holders

huge breaking

A titanic institution that is working as intended is like a nuclear power plant.

The point where it becomes a nuclear bomb going off is when the succession problem goes unsolved and a dead player takes charge of it, as per @SamoBurja. This happens very frequently.

idk i feel some signs of life in crypto again

time to pay attention

[⭕ AI & Design (Marco) @AIandDesign]

I'm not gonna lie, the @Meta layoffs are some of the most dystopian I've ever seen. They got told to work from home, they were sent the emails at 4AM in the morning. Those who weren't impacted have software on their computer that tracks their every move, preparing AI to take their job as well. They're literally training the AI that will eliminate their position as well.

Meanwhile, Meta is raking in RECORD PROFITS.

I am a massive, unapologetic AI enthusiast. Yet, this is NOT the future I had in mind.

I wish for Meta to crash and burn. This is not the way. Literally nobody benefits from this.

The confounding factor is that virtually every big company is overstaffed by 2-4x and has been for decades. AI is the catalyst/excuse to finally fix that. Of course nobody wants to say this out loud.

[John Palmer @johnpalmer]

when you join a big company you have to decide pretty quickly if you’re going to cross the event horizon and be sucked into NPC mode, or if you want to fight incredibly hard to remain a live player

Most people have never managed anyone. Those who have, most have never managed anyone smarter than themselves.

This is about to change for everyone. You will be surrounded by agents that are smarter than you, working for you 24/7. In a world of cognitive abundance, your understanding becomes the bottleneck.

You can genuinely delegate a lot of cognitive work now. This is not sci-fi. It's already permanently changed the texture of knowledge work.

But the less you understand what your agents are doing and how they're doing it, the less you will be able to get out of them. This is why it's still important to understand things like software, coding, economics, math, statistics, game theory. Not because you need to DO them (you don't), but you need to understand what's easy and what's impossible.

Try to be as smart as your agents. You will inevitably fail, but you don't need to get all the way there. You just need to become smart enough to manage things smarter than you.

[Damir V (∎, ∆) @HumaBit]

The framework is built on @SamoBurja's Live vs Dead Players essay. One of the sharpest things written on how institutions decay. I applied it to HR and talent management.
