It's Eid-ul-Adha, Bakrid. It is celebrated on 10th day after moon sighting. Moon crescent was sighted 10 days back...
Kerala has declared a consecutive 2-day public holiday for Bakrid on May 27 and May 28. The extended holiday was granted after religious bodies said the crescent moon was not sighted on May 27. So Muslims in Kerala got May 27 plus May 28. Meanwhile, religious bodies in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Libya, Syria, UAE, Malaysia and Indonesia had no problems sighting the moon on May 27. In Kerala the moon must be difficult to see because of the coconut trees.
