mkt competition among nfl teams means they can't collude for a leaguewide TV rights deal absent #antitrust exemption! 1961 #SportsBroadcastingAct gave the exemption if nfl doesn't broadcast games on Sat/Fri. @Peacock TV is not broadcast so nfl is subject to antitrust @TikiBarber
the law is https://t.co/2kPVyFtlJU the 1961 Sports Broadcasting Act which gave the nfl an exemption from antitrust on their league wide TV deals, but only if they didn't fo Saturday until after College football ended & didn't do Friday because high school cc. @EdgeofSports
hey @TikiBarber the reason there is no Friday night nor Saturday night nfl games is that Congress passed a law in the 1960s which forbade televising nfl games on those nights as part of a leaguewide TV rights deal. Without that law, leaguewide TV would violate antitrust
The Trump campaign is now saying debates can't be scheduled until the Democratic nominee is official, even though Biden was not "officially" the Dem nominee at the last debate.
@elonmusk Don’t even. Actually when Roosevelt was shot before his speech he went ahead and spoke for 84 minutes with a bullet in his chest. Trump basically had a shaving cut and had to be helped off the stage.
I wish Dems understood that changing the nominee and still losing is an infinitely better outcome than doing nothing and still losing.
It signals that they are a party that might be willing to fight Trump, and it could change the energy of their entire base.
@DeanBaker13 a tax which the feds never collects but consumers pay because US suppliers raise prices on competing goods to match the price of imports post tariffs. this is a tax that creates inflation and boosts corporate profits @BruceBartlett@DavidCayJ
