As a 2024 Rhodes finalist for W/Africa, it was exciting to finally be in the #RhodesHouse to engage on salient topics of trust and ethics, abundance, and AI sentience. The keynote by @jeremyheimans was particularly provocative, asking the biting questions that must propel us.
I became interested in attending the Rhodes Forum on Technology & Society in 2023, then living in Nigeria, and eyeing a place at Oxford. For two years, the opportunity eluded me. Today, I finally got to chance to participate, flying 26 hours and 50 minutes from my base in Sydney.

Over the weekend, I engaged a brilliant group of undergraduates on the politics and possibilities of #digitalliteracy—looking beyond Big Tech’s efficiency narratives to spotlight ethical complexity and multi-actor responsibility.

As we live the tail days of March, I reflect on some of the learnings that I gleaned from my activities during the month. You might find some of these helpful.
-Be with people who want the same things as you. Like it or not, your circle determines the path you take and how far you go. Join good communities and keep good friends.
You're not your background. Whatever it is that faces you now, you have the potential to transcend these circumstances and become more.
- The difference between who you were yesterday and who you will be tomorrow is in what you do today. Doing is, indeed, bigger than dreaming.
