If people can't consume controversial content without being afraid to become radicalized they've been brainwashed and/or don't have an established moral compass.

You can read the works of dictators and take away great lessons without wanting to become one.

Critical thinking is defined by the ability to filter inputs through your ideas and beliefs without necessarily changing your opinion.
