Nigeria, which way?
There has been another brutal attack on Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, on Palm Sunday evening. For how long will this continue?
Once again, gunmen on motorcycles stormed a peaceful community, turning it into a scene of blood, tears, and mourning. With reports of over 20 feared dead, including children.
What makes this even more annoying is the government's response, that is never really a response. You are imposing a 48 hour curfew, to do what exactly? To restrict the victims or apprehend the killers? What is the curfew meant to achieve?
It should be quite glaring now that the government has failed and continues to fail to safeguard the lives of the people of Jos, and Nigeria at large, despite years of repeated attacks.
Security response remains passive, reacting only after the screams have faded and the dead are buried. We are told that security agencies are on the trail of the perpetrators, yet no one is ever held accountable, fostering a cycle of impunity where innocent traders, farmers, and students are sacrificed at will.
Like I stated earlier, the most painful part of all this, is the indifference of our leaders. While communities are being wiped out, the focus of the political class is predictably elsewhere. Their energies are not aimed at securing the lives of citizens, but on how to rig the 2027 elections, and squeezing out more taxes from a populace that cannot even walk safely on their own streets.
How many more deaths will it take for our lives to become more important than your politics?
And to fellow Nigerians, how many more deaths will it take to truly anger us enough to react? How many?
The blood of the innocent is crying out from the soil of Plateau. This is a call for conscience. The government must do more than send condolences; it must act.
Rest in Peace to the victims of this fresh, senseless violence.

@AckoladesOla@Evra Oh, we will. If thereโs one thing thatโs certain to never happen, itโs Evra not ever becoming a Coach as successful as Arteta.
While Arteta goes on to become a legend, kids will only remember Evra for his childishness on twitter. Such a shame.
